Tropes for the film:

  • Age-Gap Romance: The 37 year old Rafi falls in love with 23 year old David, son of her therapist, Lisa. They have a wonderful time together, but ultimately break up because of their fundamental differences in their life - she's divorced, established in her career, he's just starting out in life, etc.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Rafi and Dave break up, but encounter each other a year later and exchange smiles, indicating that they've achieved closure and can happily move on.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Used. "While there's no "other person", Rafi breaks up with Dave, despite his desire to have a baby with her, knowing full well it's not the right choice for him (he's only 23, much younger than she). Ironically, his willingness to take a step that he KNOWS he's not ready for (he loves her so much he's willing to make that sacrifice) makes her love him even more, but because she loves him so much, she doesn't want to tie him down like that and knows he'll eventually regret the decision.
  • Making Love in All the Wrong Places: Rafi tells her therapist "we have had sex on every surface of my apartment".
  • One-Word Title: Prime.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Rafi and Dave break up upon realizing that the differences in their lives will ultimately be insurmountable.
  • Therapist in Therapy: Lisa sees a therapist frequently. She expresses various emotions about her son dating one of her patients.
