Tropes for the film:

  • The Farmer and the Viper: Griffin saves the life of an old friend's second-in-command, which earns him entry into the friends' gang. The rescued rollerboy thanks Griffin by spending the rest of the film trying to turn the gang leader against him. Even lampshaded during the film itself.
  • Hellish L.A.: In a dystopian near-future following an economic meltdown, Los Angeles is plagued by crime, poverty, and drug abuse, leading to the rise of a white supremacist rollerblading narcogang that wants to use tainted drugs to sterilize America's junkies and allow the "pure" to rebuild America in their image.
  • Rollerblade Good: The movie features a gang of teenage white supremacists who ride rollerblades into their rumbles.
  • Tagline: "In the 21st century, it's gonna take one man his blades to save the world from another man... and HIS blades".
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Griffin saves the life of The Dragon to the boss of Rollerboys, who happens to be Griffin's childhood friend. Out of jealousy, the dragon spends the rest of the film trying to sabotage Griffin's place in the gang.
