Evil Gets Rebooted
Nekrotronic is a 2018 Australian Action Science Fiction Horror Comedy film starring Monica Bellucci.
Howard North is a slacker who discovers he's secretly a nekromancer, a man specially equipped to slay demons. And lucky too, because the demons have figured out how to possess people through the Internet. Now, joining an organization of fellow nekromancers, Howard has to stop a traitorous one from setting the demons upon the Earth.
This film was distributed by Universal in the US. And for the love of all things holy, please do not confuse this film with Nekromantik.
This film contains examples of:
- Big Bad: Finnegan, a corrupted nekromancer seeking to unleash demons upon Earth.
- Brain in a Jar: The nekropods Finnegan's using to power the evil game are powered by a nekromancer head, kept alive via Demonic Possession.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Finnegan used to be a nekromancer before being mystically corrupted by the demons. Unfortunately, demonic corruption is incurable.
- Creature-Hunter Organization: The nekromancers, a bunch of wizards who spend their days killing demons before they Take Over the World.
- Evil Matriarch: Finnegan is Howard's mother, who nearly devoured his soul as a small child. His father spirited him away in a Heroic Sacrifice.
- Force Feeding: Finnegan does an unusual version of this to Howard, by trying to force a soul into the back of his neck to corrupt him. The other nekromancers rescue him.
- Haunted Technology: The main antagonists are demons that attack people through a mobile game.
- Heroic Lineage: Nekromancy is a genetic trait, and only the children of nekromancers can become nekromancers themselves.

- Human Sacrifice: Ancient human sacrifice is how the demons got to Earth in the first place.
- Kick the Dog: Finnegan pretending to be a loving mother to Howard so she can trick him into getting possessed. Even worse, it's revealed that she's powering her nekropods by decapitating nekromancers and keeping their heads alive inside them.
- Our Demons Are Different: These are evil spirits summoned by Blood Magic, eat souls and have recently figured out how to travel through the Internet. Their true forms resemble glowing green humanoids or black smoke clouds, but they can only interact with the material world by fatally possessing a human.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: These are spirits that are Invisible to Normals, but can be seen by nekromancers. Most are barely conscious and don't try to interact with the human world, but ones bound to Earth by nekromancy latch onto their resurrector. They have purple eyes, can teleport through shadows, and have the ability to distort their bodies.
- The Paragon Always Rebels: Finnegan used to be one of the best nekromancers to ever live, but the demons managed to mystically corrupt her into joining them, eventually becoming their leader on Earth.
- Portmantitle: "Necromancer"+"Electronic," with additional Xtreme Kool Letterz.
- Powered by a Forsaken Child: The nekropods are powered by nekromancer heads, kept alive and in constant agony by demons.
- Shout-Out: The game the demons attack people through is directly modeled off of Pokémon GO, and directly compared to the same in-universe.
- The Sociopath: Finnegan, post-demonic corruption, cares for nothing but her apocalyptic schemes and sadistically devours souls on the regular, but can pretend to be a loving mother to manipulate people.
- Soul Eating: Demons subsist by devouring human souls.
- Xtreme Kool Letterz: For some reason they spell "necromancer" with a K here.
- You Have Failed Me: Finnegan threatens to slaughter an entire room of her henchmen if the evil app plan doesn't work.
