Tropes for the film:

  • Dedication: The movie ends with a brief caption that says "For Mom and Dad" before the credits roll.
  • Ghetto Name: The titular name is a blatant example already, but it's the name a white man, Joe, invents for his black female radio persona. Let's leave it at that.
  • Informed Ability: Joe is repeatedly said by other characters that he always gives brilliant, essential, life and society-transforming advice, and always "the right thing to just the right person". In reality the "therapy advice" consists of abusive, pretentious, trite and cliched statements.
  • Larynx Dissonance: Saville's attempt to imitate the voice of a Sassy Black Woman leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least. In-Universe, however, Joe has everyone convinced that Loqueesha is an actual black woman, and those who call "her" on the radio don't seem to hear anything amiss.
  • Modern Minstrelsy: Invoked Trope, in which Joe, a white man, pretends to be a Sassy Black Woman on the radio, because supposedly his "sagely life-changing advice" would go unnoticed if it came from a white man.
  • Sassy Black Woman: Invoked with Loqueesha, Joe's radio persona who takes the form of a black woman. They later hire an actual black woman with a similar attitude when Joe and Mason realize they need a face for said persona.
  • Terrible Interviewees Montage: Joe and Mason when they're looking for an actor for Loqueesha to make public appearances. There was a Creepy Crossdresser and then an old Asian lady at one point.
  • One-Word Title: Loqueesha.
