This film contains examples of

  • Dead All Along: The climax of the film reveals that Bull had in fact actually died that very night and it's implied that he had made a Deal with the Devil to come back to life to avenge his death and find his son.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: Averted. The film does not shy away from showing any of the brutality in full on camera. Played straight however when Norm tortures Bull's mother and when Bull blows his ex-wife's head off with a shotgun.
  • Missing Child: Bull's son. While he's technically not missing, Bull is trying to find and reunite with him and the only way he can do so is to torture and kill his former gang associates to get information out of them.
  • Once More, with Clarity: As Bull leaves the church to let the priest give his son salvation, we are treated to a montage of the scenes where he has terrorised/killed his associates, only his eyes remain black, revealing that all this time, Norm, his ex-wife and everyone else had seen nothing but black in his eyes the whole time, explaining why they were so terrified of him.
  • Papa Wolf: Bull will not hesitate to even kill his former associates just to get one step closer to reuniting with his son.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: The film's main plot is this as Bull slowly, one by one slaughters his former gang associates in the most brutal ways imaginable.
  • Wham Shot: The ending scene at the church, which shows Bull, only his eyes are now pure black, revealing what had actually happened to him.
