** It is worth noting that this swings both ways. While Roscoe has every reason to be pissed at David for ratting him out and subsequently ruining his life over stealing a rock; David at the time didn't really think that Roscoe would have been punished as severely as he was.

* FirefighterArsonist: Downplayed. As a child, Ulf was always "obsessed with explosions, or setting things on fire"; now, as an adult, he's the town's fire chief. While he's still obsessed with fire (at one point, he stares mesmerized at the flame from his lighter), he doesn't set or cause any fires.

* NightmareFuel: Hey, it's just a comedy-drama about a grown-up BullyAndWimpPairing continuing their antics, right? [[spoiler: Then the former bully chases down and tries to kill his former victim in revenge for what happened to him after he was dealt with at school. Using a drill, a nail gun, some circular saws and a blowtorch. Then the former victim pushes him off a rock and believes he's dead. Then he turns up at the victim's house.]] Did I say a comedy-drama? It's a slasher movie.

* TearJerker: How everything spiralled out of control. [[spoiler: Roscoe took to bullying David because that was the only way he knew to bond. Dave's childhood was ruined and he wanted to get Roscoe out of his life by any means necessary. Roscoe then stole the Moon Rock because he wanted to become an astronaut. Dave reported him to the authorities not just because it was the right thing to do and he wanted to be the hero, but to deal with him once and for all. But Roscoe was abandoned by his parents and would up in an orphanage and from there to what was basically a prison for kids. When Dave came back in town, things escalated and Roscoe tried to kill Dave, which ended up in Dave seemingly killing him. When Roscoe turns up alive, the two start fighting again and are about to kill each other before their kids intervene. It's even more poignant that they couldn't let go of the grudge when their kids could, and that the fathers never even realized they had ruined each other's life until much later.]]
