A Dangerous Man is a 2009 direct-to-video film directed by Keoni Waxman and starring Steven Seagal, Daryl Shuttleworth, Mike Dopud, Jerry Wasserman and Byron Mann.

Ex-Special Forces soldier Shane Daniels (Seagal) gets arrested after being suspected as responsible for the actually accidental death of a mugger in a car jacking where he saved his wife. Six years later, Shane is released after evidence against his supposed murder was found, but he's left bitter due to his wasted life and his wife leaving him. He goes on to deal with two rivalling rings of Chinese smugglers that are circulating around the west of the United States with help of some allies he makes through the way.

A Dangerous Man provides examples of:

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Downplayed. The Colonel is capable of putting out a better fight than all of the other smugglers in his ring, but he's still effortlessly knocked out by Shane in a physical fight.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: The two rivalling rings are respectively led by Chen and the Colonel. The latter one, alongside his ring, ends up being the ultimate threat by the time of the climax.
  • Damsel in Distress: Downplayed with Tia, who is first introduced as a captive in a car that two of the smugglers had. While she shows some skills at using guns, she usually doesn't get to fight any smugglers in comparison to the other heroes, getting badly injured when she tries to do so in the climax.
    • Tia's uncle Kuan is a straight, albeit gender inverted example. He's kidnapped by not only one but two captor factions, being first held captive by Chen's ring and later the Colonel's.
  • Dirty Cop: There are several police officers, including Sergeant Ritchie and Clark, working for Chen's ring.
  • Freudian Threat: Vlad gives one to Sergeant Ritchie when he (Ritchie) and Clark show up to Vlad's restaurant to ask him where Shane is.
  • Guns Are Worthless: Happens in the climax when Shane and the Colonel run out of ammo, and their confrontation becomes a designated physical fight.
  • Human Traffickers: Chen's smuggler ring is dedicated to smuggling people, asides from drugs. They're first introduced bringing a ship to Seattle from which Kuan is taken to a safehouse.
  • Just Got Out of Jail: At the beginning, Shane is released six years after being convicted for a crime he wasn't responsible for. Downplayed in that Shane doesn't necessarily struggle with his life after being released, but is rather left with bitter feelings over his wife abandoning him.
  • Made of Plasticine: Mostly averted, but a few cases occur throughout the climax, such as when Shane pushes a mook into a saw that slices a half part of his neck.
  • Man on Fire: The Colonel and one of his mooks end up burning to their deaths after getting affected by explosions from bombs. The former case is noticeable in that the bomb was one of those that his ring installed in the mill before.
  • Mooks: The generic members of the smuggler rings serve as these.
  • No Name Given: The Colonel is only ever referred to by his title.
  • Only One Name: Most of the major and supporting characters, asides from Shane, only have their first name known.
  • The Pen Is Mightier: How Shane kills one of the mooks at the fight in Vlad's mansion.
  • Shoot the Hostage: A variant in that the hostage wasn't being used as a shield. During the climax, the Colonel avoids doing this to a hostage he was keeping at first, but he's forced to kill him when the hostage manages to break out of his restraints and tries to attack him.
  • Unflinching Walk: Downplayed. At the end of the climax, Shane leaves the Colonel beaten up before running away from the catwalk with Kuan. Just before the Colonel tries to shoot them, Shane detonates a bomb in the catwalk with the remote he took to kill him off.
  • Wealthy Ever After: A variant in that Shane and Tia, after falling for each other, don't get money, but instead move to an isolated mansion located in a glacier.
