Title of the Fanfic by Author OR Fic Trope Page, by Author (Link)
  • Recommended by: Troper Name
  • Synopsis: What's the story about? Give here a brief summary of the plot. It would be also useful to point out in what moment of the series the story takes place. If it's a Gen Fic but it has some romantic elements, note here the characters involved too.
  • Pairing(s): If it's a Shipping Fic, list here the pairings that feature in the fic (warn here if it's het, male slash or female slash). If it's a Gen Fic, remove this line. To tell the difference between the two, notice if the focus of the fic is on a romantic relationship or if it focuses on the other aspects of the story. In case of doubt, classify the story according to the genres it's been tagged: the Romance tag for Shipping, absence of that tag for Gen Fic.
  • Tags: If any are known. This would be things like W.A.F.F., Lemon, Dark Fic, any known Crossovers etc.

  • Pairings: Kinjou/Arakita
  • Comments: A beautiful story that features an excellent dive into Arakita’s head. Good friendships, an alternate take on canon events that feels genuine. You get an all-around take on Arakita’s interactions with the team and his developing relationship with Kinjou. Also includes art as well!

  • Pairings: Manami/Onoda, Makishima/Toudou, Shinkai/Arakita
  • Comments: Onoda on a quest in a magical world is always a fun thing. This fic has a fair amount of worldbuilding and juggles the characters very well. There’s plenty of magic and mystery, and seeing the world through Onoda’s eyes makes it very refreshing! A pleasant read, for sure!

  • Recommended by: wendypanacea
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Naruko pushes Imaizumi off his bicycle.
  • Pairings: Imaizumi/Naruko

  • Status: Dormant; last updated October 2017

  • Pairings: Manami/Onoda, Toudou/Makishima

everything is in line by dabblingDilettante

  • Recommended by: Latia & executemiracle
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Miyahara is not made for change.
  • Pairings: None, exactly, but Manami and Miyahara's relationship features heavily.
  • Comments: dabblingDilettante has written some really incredible stuff about Manami and Miyahara's relationship and really seems to get how wistful, but sweet, it really is. It's always so great to read these really carefully thought-out character studies about side characters that you can tell the author has a lot of love for.

hime na no da by stellarbird

  • Recommended by: Latia
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: “She can’t cycle in a dress,” says her father to Tooji, his mouth stiffening slightly at the unfamiliarity of the pronoun. Miki fingers the soft fabric and thinks yes, I can, as her brother quietly speaks her thoughts out loud and her father looks at his children with confused surrender, and yields the bike.
  • Pairings: Miki/Aya
  • Comments: A short fic that manages to pack in a lot with an almost poetic choice of words. A lovely character study of a character who's often overlooked.

And Do It Well by dem_hips

  • Recommended by: Latia
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Tadokoro Jin and Makishima Yuusuke meet as first-years in Sohoku's cycling club, each facing his own difficulties and challenges, and together they begin to grow and come into their own as cyclists.
  • Pairings: Tadokoro/Makishima (though it can very easily be read as pure gen fic)
  • Comments: A really wonderful look at Tadokoro and Makishima, through the lens of their growing relationship and the struggles they faced in first year. The first part of the fic, in particular, utilizes some amazing prose choices to really get across Tadokoro's struggles. Brief mentions of disordered eating.

Stories which crossover with other characters or works.

  • Synopsis: Two idiots doing their best to protect each other and stumbling a bit along the way.
  • Pairings: Imaizumi/Naruko
  • Comments: Really well-written prose and excellent characterization! Despite the shipping vibe the characters’ interactions really wouldn’t seem out of place in canon. Maybe not the best choice if you’re squeamish about descriptions of blood, though.

Stateside by LordOnisyr

  • Recommended by executemiracle
  • Status: Dormant; last updated August 2017
  • Synopsis: Tadokoro and Toudou both have their own relationships with Makishima, and neither of the two take it very well. After a long time, all three of them try to reconnect, but a cycling accident turns that all on its head.
  • Pairings: Toudou/Makishima/Tadokoro and all combinations inbetween
  • Comments: A slow build that showcases how much Tadokoro and Toudou care about Makishima, and how that changes their relationship over time. It comes with a rare Tadokoro POV that’s done quite well!

  • Recommended by wendypanacea & executemiracle

  • Pairings: Toudou/Makishima

better left spoken by dabblingDilettante

  • Recommended by Latia
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Miki talks about bikes and when Aya thinks about it, about the fact that she can listen to it at all, about the fact that Miki delivers so much excitement that she alone could likely power the entire prefecture, she feels like no one else should have the right.
  • Pairings: Miki/Aya
  • Comments: A really warm and engaging piece about two characters who are given very little, this fic is as much a double character study as it is a shipping fic. Despite the melancholy atmosphere, it really gives you a sense of hope, and is, in my opinion, one of the hidden gems of the fandom.

At Hearthside Met by Inelegantly (Lir)

  • Recommended by Latia
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: When he sweeps the creature up off the beach, it's like a ragdoll in his arms, too light, like it weighs nothing. He doesn't think twice. Just slings his burden gently up against his shoulder without flinching from the blood or the injury, before turning resolutely to head for home.
  • Pairings: Tadokoro/Makishima
  • Tags: AU, blood, injury, caretaking
  • Comments: A charming and engaging bit of AU, while the subject is initially a bit dire, there's a really gentle and lovely feel to this fic. Despite its relatively short length it manages to pack in the charm and atmosphere of a Ghibli film

  • Pairings: Makishima/Toudou, Fukutomi/Kinjo, Imaizumi/Onoda/Naruko, T2 (Teshima/Aoyagi)
