Proof that the remaining 10% is worth having a pirate shit in your mouth is here.

These are recommendations made by Tropers for Dimension 20 fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on their respective pages. Feel free to add a recommendation of your own to the appropriate list, but remember to use the template found here.

You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. You can do it by expanding on the synopsis and/or pertinent tags, or linking similar or related fanfics. Reviews are also encouraged, but please make sure to make reviews have substance; if you simply want to recommend a fic without an extensive review, put your Troper name in the Recommended by line of the fic in question. The Seventh Player by Yalamodo

  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: In this retelling of the Fantasy High Campaign, a seventh player will be forced to admit that no one can stand alone. As Adaine and her new friends grow closer amid mystery and danger, can they learn not only to trust each other on the battlefield but off it as well? The same plot but with a new character to explore more complex aspects of relationships, platonic and romantic.
  • Comments: A fairly solid AU with decent potential. The author's narration is bogged down by an overly "tell, don't show" approach to writing that makes it seem like he's trying to tell the audience how they should feel through the characters, rather than having the characters interact naturally and letting the audience come to their own conclusions, and while the author's OC is a solid character in concept, he kind of squanders her potential by reducing her to a Satellite Love Interest about halfway into the story. Still, it's far from the worst Fantasy High fic out there, and I'd encourage a read if you're curious about more experimental fics.

Ready Player Seven? by margoshansons

  • Synopsis: Marina Mondraia was a good kid. Or at least she thought she was until she entered her freshman year of high school at Aguefort Adventuring Academy. Suddenly forced into a party with six other kids, Marina quickly learns that being an adventurer is nothing like she expected. (A rewrite of Fantasy High with a seventh player.)
  • Comments: The author gives full credit, from the very beginning, that this story is directly inspired by The Seventh Player (detailed above), but in my opinion, this is the far superior story between the two. From the beginning, the writing and dialogue is far smoother, and while it currently only has two chapters going for it so far, its titular "Player Seven" is already far better executed as an OC (comparatively speaking) in the substantially lesser time she's had to establish herself as a character. I would definitely check it out and show the author the support that they deserve.

  • Synopsis: The adventuring life has a lot of hazards. Adaine Abernant is less than a month into her freshman year, and she's already picked up her first kill, her first dead party members, and her first life-shattering curse. Now she just needs to hold this mess together for four years, somehow. (Werewolf Adaine canon-divergence AU, with the changes mostly personal at first and spiraling out from there.)
  • Comments: A very well-written Werewolf!Adaine AU fic, fully exploring the ramifications of what would happen to Adaine if her bite from Jawbone caused her to become a werewolf. The author intends on having this story going for the whole of Adaine's high-school career at Aguefort (and the story is more than seventy chapters in as of writing, so they're making good progress), and even in the first few chapters not long after Adaine's initial infection, it does an amazing job exploring the new circumstances Adaine finds herself forced to face as a new lycanthrope. I would definitely encourage reading it, for certain.

  • Synopsis: The Bad Kids wake up on the first day of their freshman year. Or… no, it’s almost two years later and everything is so vastly different. Where are they? Who are all these people claiming to be their family and friends?
  • Comments: A fantastically well-written story that takes place after Sophomore Year. The Bad Kids wake up one day missing two years of their memories, each of them thinking that it's their first day of Freshman Year, while everyone else in their lives remembers and is trying to help them get their memories back. It doesn't help that some of the Bad Kids are... less than cooperative. I think this fic has a great grasp of character dynamics and I love that we get to see how this situation is affecting everyone, not just the people with the lost memories.
