Total Highschool Drama
is a Total Drama fanfiction written by The Nerdinator. It is an Alternate Universe Fic with an alternate version of Total Drama that combines challenges and elements from every season from the canon series, as well as some original challenges.
Description (from the actual fanfiction): "Highschool AU. A washed-up reality TV host calls for 84 students to participate in a mad-dash race for one million dollars. At first, Noah is more than ready to get away from the idiots he's had to deal with all his life. That is, until a new transfer named Emma asks him to form an alliance with her."
Total Highschool Drama provides examples of:
- Adaptational Sexuality: Gwen, Courtney, Katie, and Sadie are bisexual, and Trent is asexual.
- Amazon Chaser: In “Aftermath III”, it’s revealed that Ezekiel has a crush on Eva.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: There's a LOT of fourth-wall breaking, from interactions between the characters and the author to the author himself appearing in the story.The Nerdinator: Whose idea was this?!...Oh, wait, it was mine.
- Executive Meddling: In universe, the producers favor the popular students more than the Misfit alliance to the point where they subtly help the popular students win, mainly by rigging tiebreaker competitions.
- Foreshadowing: In chapter 11, after Courtney confesses to being afraid of green jello, Chris - in a separate confession - states that she has given him the perfect idea for a challenge. This foreshadows chapter 24, which is based off of the Total Drama Island episode "Phobia Factor", where the remaining competitors have to face their fears....including Courtney with her fear of green jello.
- Freudian Excuse: It is revealed that the reason why Amy is mean to Sammy is because she believes she's responsible for their father's death.
- Noodle Incident: There are several, such as the reason why Izzy is a "Psycho Hose Beast".Izzy: Hey, why am I a 'Psycho Hose Beast'?
Someone very important: Don't you remember that Halloween costume you made in second grade?
Izzy: Oh yeah! That was fun! Still don't get why it got me a lifetime ban from Home Depot though. - Song Parody: There are several songs in the series that are based on existing songs. For example, in chapter 23, Noah is required to name the most populated cities in each state in the United States in both question and song form. What he sings is a nod to A Codette World Tour, which helped inspire this fanfiction; in that story, Cody sang this song for the same challenge that the challenge in this chapter is based on.
