The military does end up taking Class 2-5 away on helicopter the night on the roof. Well... almost everybody. Due to Nam-ra's temperature, the soldiers refuse to take her with them, seeing her as a potential hybrid. Of course, being the loving boyfriend he is, Su-hyeok decides to stay with Nam-ra.

- Adaptational Comic Relief: Gwi-nam of all people is quite funny for the scenes he has.
- Big Damn Reunion: Woo-jin and Ha-ri both burst into tears upon seeing one another again in the epilogue. Later, all the kids reunite with Nam-ra and Su-hyeok.
- Blessed with Suck: Nam-ra's halfbie status is why her and Su-hyeok were left behind by the military. It leads to her losing control of herself and attacking the other students and Su-hyeok is bitten to stop her. They have to eat Joon-sung's corpse to keep their hunger from getting out of control. In the end, they leave together in the belief that they won't have a place with the military.
- Devoted to You: Su-hyeok stays behind for Nam-ra, he becomes a halfbie for Nam-ra, everything he does is for Nam-ra.
- Dies Differently in Adaptation:
- Instead of sacrificing himself on the tennis court, Nam So-ju sacrifices himself for Ha-ri, trying to hold back a zombie to keep it from biting her and leaving his back open for another to bite him.
- Joon-sung doesn't sacrifice himself for Mi-jin but instead succumbs to his stab wound.
- Gwi-nam is shot to death by the archers.
- For the Evulz: Gwi-nam decides to attack Joon-sung and the other kids just for the sake of adding to the chaos of Nam-ra losing control.
- Hidden Depths: Gwi-nam is still evil, but he does agree to not attack the other kids since he wasn't hungry due to eating Na-yeon and since Cheong-san is no longer at the school. He also has a surprisingly fun dynamic with Su-hyeok and was somehow the only one to know of his feelings for Nam-ra before the apocalypse.
- Misunderstood Loner with a Heart of Gold: As with canon, Nam-ra was this before the outbreak. She notes that the rumor about her benefitting from nepotism had actually been a lie made up by Na-yeon.
- Sacrificial Lamb: Nam So-ju died, which allows for Nam-ra and Su-hyeok to leave the group instead of going to the survivor camp with the other kids.
- Spared By Adaptation: Because most of Class 2-5 was saved by the military, the kids who died after that point, Joon-yeong, Woo-jin, and Ji-min, all survive. Likewise, Min-jae doesn't get separated from his group and survives.
- Understanding Boyfriend: Su-hyeok not only stays behind to protect Nam-ra, but he also willingly lets himself get bitten by her when her hunger gets out of control.
