The Sun Hero is a My Hero Academia fanfic by Kairomaru. It can be read here on Fanfiction Dot Net and here on Archive of Our Own.

Midoriya Izuku, a boy who wants to be a Hero. When he manifests his Quirk it's to a stunned Doctor and parents. But Izuku is determined to make his Quirk, or is it Quirks, work for him. He'll master his power and become the greatest Hero he can be! A Hero that helps others and saves them from the Villains of the world! "I can't be the Greatest Hero? Who decided that?"

This fic contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Izuku is a lot stronger than his canon self by virtue of training his Quirk from a much earlier age, allowing him to perform feats that would be impossible.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Toga is a student of UA this time around rather than a member of the League of Villains.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Endeavor here is much more aware of the damage he inflicted upon his family and is taking steps to mend the relationship he has with them much earlier than his canon self.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Thanks to having a much more supportive environment to grow up in, Izuku is more confident in himself compared to canon.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • In canon, Izuku and Toga were enemies, with Toga having an unhealthy, twisted crush on Izuku. Here, both enjoy a loving and stable relationship as lovers ever since they met each other at Aldera Junior High.
    • Izuku cuts ties with Bakugou since he has a true friend in Toga.
    • Toga in canon had an adversarial relationship towards Uraraka. This fic's version of Toga is best friends with Uraraka and the other 1-A girls.
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: Instead of receiving One for All from All Might, Izuku is born with a Dual Quirk that effectively makes him Escanor from The Seven Deadly Sins, complete with Super-Strength, heat generation, and the ability to conjure up miniature suns.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The USJ attack ends in abject failure for the League of Villains thanks to Izuku's intervention, with the Nomu they brought incinerated by Izuku's flames along with Shigaraki and Kurogiri being captured by the heroes after Izuku defeats them, with Shigaraki losing his arms from trying (and failing) to block Izuku's Cruel Sun.
  • Genius Bruiser: Izuku's overwhelming firepower and razor-sharp intelligence make him a force to be reckoned with since he can swiftly deduce how an enemy's Quirk works and form a plan to counter that with extreme prejudice.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Bakugou still bullies Izuku even though the latter has a Quirk, this time over Izuku's (initial) inability to use both aspects of his Dual Quirk in tandem with each other.
  • Point of Divergence:
    • Thanks to Izuku reaching out to Toga, Toga avoids going crazy from blood deprivation and falling into villainy.
    • Izuku crippling Shigaraki during the USJ attack throws a serious monkey wrench into All for One's plans since the severity of Shigaraki's injuries mean that All for One cannot transfer his Quirk into him.
    • Nezu taking over the USJ case sees the heroes respond much to the threat the League of Villains poses much more quickly than they did in canon, with Nezu devising numerous plans and contingencies to deal with them before they become too powerful.
    • Kurogiri's capture leads to his status as a Nomu made from Oboro Shirakumo's corpse being discovered much earlier than canon, giving Eraserhead, Midnight, and Present Mic extra incentive in hunting down the person responsible for that.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Pretty much no one in 1-A has anything good to say about Mineta thanks to his naked lechery and are all too happy to see him go after the Sports Festival.
