Go To

The Legend Of Ruby: Breath Of The Wild written by Nan the Keyblade Master is a currently ongoing crossover between RWBY and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that as the title suggests puts the RWBY characters into the Hyrule seen in Breath of the Wild.

When Weiss awakens from a hundred year slumber, she finds herself in unfamiliar territory and soon realizes she will have to save Hyrule and Ruby. Will she be up for the task, or will she succumb to Calamity Ganon?

The Legend of Ruby: Breath Of The Wild contains examples of:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Most of Chapter 14 is Jacques's backstory.
  • Adaptational Badass: Calamity Ganon, while already a force to be reckoned with in the original game, is no slouch in this story despite being held back by Ruby for a hundred years, is capable of possessing the spirits of the champions.
  • Adaptational Heroism:
    • Roman Torchwick and Neo start out a lot more heroic in this story than in their home series, with them being travelling merchants and while some people claim that they are mere scam artists, they do run a legit business.
    • Cinder is a hero here, being friends with Nora.
  • Adaptational Job Change:
    • Yang and the duo of Roman and Neo are travelling sales people.
    • Whitley was an inventor in this universe.
  • Adaptational Species Change: Ilia is a human in this universe who got inspired by the camouflaging abilities of chameleons to learn how to camouflage herself.
  • Adaptation Amalgamation: The story is based off of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but includes Terrako from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Given the game this story is based on, it's pretty much a given that Weiss starts out with her having lost all of her memories and having to regain them over the course of the adventure.
  • Bag of Holding: In Chapter 2, Willow enchants Weiss's bag to where it's completely bottomless and can give Weiss anything she needs just by thinking about it.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Whitley managed to invent an AI that was left behind after he passed away, and is housed inside of a Guardian. And despite not being the actual Whitley, is still very willing to help out Weiss.
  • Big Damn Reunion:
    • Upon defeating the first Divine Beast Weiss allows Mipha to reunite with her family to give both parties a chance to heal from the loss from over a century ago.
    • While she doesn't actually get to reunite with Whitley properly due to him having long passed on, the AI he created shows Weiss a recording of a final message that was addressed to his family.
  • Canon Foreigner: The Platinum Lynel is an original creation not found within the original game, but specifically created for this story to give an extra challenge to Weiss during her adventure.
  • Death Glare: A Fire Lizalfos gives one to another Fire Lizalfos after getting shot by the latter due to Weiss's incredibly loud screaming when Nora pierces Weiss's ears...with stakes.
  • The Dreaded: Both the Platinum Lynel and the Guardians are seen as this by Weiss, due to the difficulty she has fighting them and the immense power that they posses, meaning that she has to be extra careful while dealing with them.
  • The Goomba: Foot soldiers from the Yiga clan are seen as this, with them often getting beaten in really quick and humorous ways.
  • Hammerspace: The item bag that Weiss carries around has been enchanted to become completely bottomless, allowing her to much more easily carry around all the weapons and items that she ends up finding along her journey.
  • Last of His Kind: Throughout the story it is mentioned that the Schnee's died out about a century ago when the calamity happened, with Weiss encountering plenty of people throughout her journey who are surprised to hear about her last name.
  • My God, You Are Serious!: Weiss's reaction in Chapter 2 when Willow non-verbally confirms that she can fit a small boat inside her bottomless bag.
  • Regained Memories Sequence: Throughout her journey Weiss ends up regaining parts of her memories that she had lost as a result of needing to use the Shrine of Resurrection, with her slowly but surely beginning to figure out what had happened.
  • Smash Cut: Upon discovering one of her memories, she discovers that Purah used to be quite a looker in the past, it then immediately cuts to Purah's house as Weiss knocks on the door and upon the door being opened she demands to know why she never mentioned that she used to look good in the past.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: In Chapter 10, Daruk helps a tired Goron mine while giving the latter Rock Roast for a boost of energy. The Goron didn't seem to mind Daruk being a ghost.
  • The Worf Effect: Chapter 6 has Wiess coming across a Red Lynel who had its head cut off, weapons taken and was skinned by a Platinum Lynel. Downplayed as the slash marks on its body indicate it did not go down without a fight.
