The Legend of Dwayne and Lisa is a The Legend of Spyro fanfic created by Foowd.

The fanfiction stars a 16-year old human named Dwayne Reed who is overprotective for his younger sister, Lisa. The reason for this is because they just appeared on the front stoop of an orphanage. One day, he goes to the local game store and buys a copy of The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, but he drops it on his way back to the orphanage. A strange girl in a hooded robe returns it to him and leaves. When Dwayne returns to the orphanage to deliver the game to his sister, they're suddenly pulled into the Legend of Spyro universe and transformed into dragons. Now, they have to help Spyro, Sparx and Cynder defeat an evil villain who is kidnapping baby dragons. But along the way, more and more of their past is revealed.

The fanfiction can be read here.

This fic contains the following tropes:

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: At first Koria hates Dwayne for being a coward, but after Dwayne kills Rikor, she slowly starts to realize that she loves him.
  • The Atoner: Bianca is this once she finds out what the Sorceress really plans to do with the baby dragons.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Being Lisa's older brother, Dwayne cares very much for her safety. He defends her at multiple points in the story and is constantly worrying about her well-being, especially after she first arrives in Warfang.
    • The same also applies to Darius, even though his younger brother, Taven disagrees with him most of the time.
  • Broken Bird: Koria is this after her parents were killed during an attack from the Sorceress' armies.
  • Chained Heat: Dwayne and Koria are chained together by the same snake chain that Spyro and Cynder were chained with in The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon after they're captured by Rikor.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: Overlappes with *Tough Love. Lisa is only a twelve-year-old, meek kid but has to be taught to defend herself because of how dangerous the conflict with the main villain is. Cynder is rather harsh with her but it's only to drive her to overcome her meekness and fight better. Somewhat deconstructed, however, as this harsh training technique lands both of them in the infirmary and Cynder is scolded by Blaze for going to hard on Lisa.
  • Fate Worse than Death: The Dragons who the Sorceress turns into Husks.
  • Forced Transformation: Dwayne and Lisa are transformed into dragons when they're pulled into the Dragon Realms. However, there's more to the story.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Bianca pulls one of these when she finds out the Sorceress' true intentions.
  • Jerk Ass Has A Point: Not really "jerk" so much as "stern, hotheaded, overprotective father" but Blaze raises plenty of valid points about things during the story. Of note is when he chastises Cynder for going overboard with Lisa's combat training, to the point both Lisa and Cynder end up in the infirmary. Though Lisa needs to learn to fight, there was no need to cause actual such injury in a practice match, especially not on Lisa's first time. Plus she is only a twelve-year-old kid, so Cynder did not have to be so harsh on her.
    • In the final battle of Warfang, Cynder lets Lisa, a twelve-year-old kid with only one previous session of self-defense training, fight in what is basically a warzone. Lisa does fine against a few mages but gets ambushed and suffers a nearly fatal or at least grievous wound. It's completely understandable that Blaze would be pissed about Cynder letting Lisa into such a situation in the first place, regardless of how dire things may be.
  • The Legend of X: Right there in the title. In this case, of Dwayne and Lisa.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: In Chapter 5, Blaze reveals that he is Dwayne and Lisa's father.
  • Meaningful Rename: Subverted. In chapter 15, Dwayne asks Blaze if he had a name before he and Lisa were sent away. Blaze answers that he never had the chance to name him and Lisa, since the Eastern Dragons (Dwayne's species of dragon) don't name their offspring until they learn to speak. He then agrees to let him and Lisa keep the names they went by in the human world.
  • Missing Mom: Dwayne and Lisa's mother was killed by the Sorceress prior to the events of the story and transformed into an Advanced Husk.
  • My Parents Are Dead: Koria's parents died during an attack from the Sorceress' forces, leaving her in the care of her Grandfather.
  • Nature Lover: Blaze tells his son Dwayne about how Chara saw beauty in the plants and the little animals that lived in them whereas Blaze himself never understood what was so special about them.
  • Papa Wolf: Blaze is very protective of his children, who are Dwayne and Lisa.
  • Tragic Monster: The husks, which are dead dragons brought back as mindless thralls. Dwayne and Lisa's mother is one of them.
  • Wham Chapter: Chapters 5 & 24.
  • Wham Line: Upon encountering him in the Dragon Realms, Bianca says "You were never really humans, Dwayne... The form you and your sister take now? They are your true forms. You and Lisa had been living a lie your whole lives and you didn't even know it...".
    • After Cynder asks Blaze why he sent Dwayne and Lisa to the Human Realms, Blaze answers that he's their father.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Blaze calls out Cynder for letting Lisa, a 12 year old girl, go out into battle. Understandable, given that this is his daughter. And also in that, Lisa suffers a grievous wound and nearly dies.
