Tears of Epoch is an fanfic that revolves around the concept of "superheroes before superheroes", where the heroes have superpowers but during the olden eras.

Ernaut, living in the town of Castlemore, one day stumbles upon a sentinel crystal, which is nicknamed the Tear of Heaven. This however, makes a change that forces him out the land and onto his mission;

Tears of Epoch contains examples of;

  • Air-Vent Passageway: Ernaut breaks out of the Nexus Capital Supreme Prison by this. Also, Karin uses her powers to put the air vent back on to hide the evidence, which however, doesn't manage to fool the prison guard as he knows that the only possible way he could escape unnoticed.
  • Alliterative Name: Comet Caller.
  • Big Bad: The Chromas, manifestations of ghosts that are said to originate from nightmares.
  • Came from the Sky: The Tear of Heaven.
  • Colonel Badass: Captain Beck. He even works more effectively at night with his glow-in-the-dark rapier and is hired to chase down Ernaut in Evergrove.
  • Continuation Fic: This fanfic takes place after the evil ending in Totem Tribe, though it passes the torch to a different protagonist.
  • Egomaniac Hunter: Shion himself.
  • Heroic Host: "Unlocking" the Tear of Heaven allows Karin, the soul to enter the user's bodies, allowing them to use their powers to their advantage. That also includes their weaponry.
  • Homing Projectile: Karin's magic needles, which Ernaut uses to fight off obstacles at long range.
  • Hyperspace Arsenal: Karin's weaponry; fists and needles.
  • Jousting Lance: The Spirit Spear, which is the third weapon provided by Karin to Ernaut after unlocking the Tear of Heaven. It is used to charge up really fast and then dash, hitting everything in sight at high speed.
  • Leap of Faith: Ernaut does this to jump off the ship that arrived at Evergrove's docks to avoid being detected by everyone else who was still on the ship.
  • Noiseless Walker: One of the powers Karin provides that helps Ernaut evade capture from many enemies.
  • Parental Abandonment: Ernaut loses his parents, Noah and Jeanne, to the Chromas after he finds that his house was destroyed by them. However, their bodies were not found and their fate remains a mystery.
  • Power Crystal: The Tear of Heaven, of course.
  • Power Fist: Karin's fists, which Ernaut uses to fight off the Chromas.
  • The Protagonist: Ernaut, the wanderer across Castlemore, who does jobs and services to help out others.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Aruku and Gabriella. It is stated that Aruku became a leader obsessed with power and control after gaining control of the Comet, while Gabriella stood up by building a new tribe (Haven Tribe) to make a new utopia for people across the land.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Ernaut escapes with the aid of the Tear of Heaven from the crowd confronting him after he defeats the Chromas. He later gets caught though.
  • Solitary Sorceress: Genevie, who lives alone in the Darum Forest.
  • Spin Attack: Ernaut does this with the Spirit Fist in his fight against Beck's garrison in Evergrove. He eventually destroys the garrison's buildings and injures most of the soldiers with his weapons provided by Karin by using this technique when he was surrounded.
  • Super Fic: Tears of Epoch revolves around the Tear of Heaven granting powers as it's blessing which mostly equates to superpowers. . Plus the fact that this fanfic takes place before the modern age.
  • There Should Be a Law: Mayor Wally tries to make "witchcraft" (the Tear of Heaven) illegal in attempt to make Ernaut surrender. He first considers it, but then he passes the law and then gets it to the Nexus Capital to get everyone on his crusade against him.
  • Ultimate Authority Mayor: Mayor Wally himself, going from Castlemore to chasing down Ernaut and launching an all-out campaign against him that goes to the entirety of the Nexus.
  • Whip Sword: Karin's sword, as noted in Ernaut's dream. Plus the fact that this sword extends up to 3.6 yards long via the use of a chain connected to the blade.
  • Unconventional Courtroom Tactics: The last one in the jury, Stanley, tries to stall the trial by explaining Ernaut's motivation, to try and get Ernaut to escape. This however, backfires as Stanley is then removed and is laughed at by the other members in the jury.
