Saint Irene is a Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfiction by John Hollins, whose claim to fame is being the first Eva fic written in English. In fact, it was written, and posted in the rec.arts.anime.creative Rec.arts.anime.creative
fanfiction archive, in 1996 when the series was still ongoing. For this reason, several characters' depictions are based on Literal Translation scripts found online, since Hollins had only watched the first two episodes.
A mysterious American girl called Irene Harper becomes Shinji Ikari's newest classmate. Her arrival immediately creates friction between herself, Shinji and Asuka. Nonetheless, Irene knows more about Shinji than what she is letting on, and she seems to be somehow connected to the Angels.
