- Abusive Parents: The Pérezs. They're abusive to Camilo, who they kidnapped to be their replacement son. It's revealed they were abusive to their real son, Rico.
- Big Sister Instinct: All of the older Madrigal grandkids have this, mostly over Camilo when he comes home.
- Death of a Child: Rico, a five year old, was killed by his mother three years before the fic. That's the reason for the Pérezs to kidnap Camilo.
- Mama Wolf & Papa Wolf: Pepa and Félix, big time. Pepa even gets her powers back to protect Camilo from Mateo and Gloria during his second kidnapping.
- Nothing but Skin and Bones: Due to the Pérezs forcing Camilo to use his gift constantly to appear as their dead son Rico, he's extremely skinny once he finally escaped.
- Offing the Offspring: It's revealed Gloria stabbed and beat Rico so badly he bled out.

- The Pérezs act like a sympathetic couple who tragically lost their only son. It's revealed Gloria actually killed him.
