Four teens from the Four Kingdoms.

"Hailing from the four kingdoms, four aspiring huntsmen with different pasts, ideals, and goals enroll in Beacon Academy. These four Huntsmen-in-training find themselves on the same team and living under the same roof as one another. Does this new team have what it takes to unite with one another as friends, allies, or even the family that one another needs?"

RWBY: Team DUSK is an OC centric AU fanfic written by HolyKnightX. It entails the beginning of Team DUSK, consisting of Daniel Norden, Hunter Upson, Sandra Skye, and Alyssa King as Huntsmen-in-Training at Beacon Academy.

RWBY: Team DUSK contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: Sandra and Alyssa aren't afraid of jumping into a fight, either to aid their friends or to pummel someone: Human, Grimm, Faunus, it doesn't matter.

  • Alternate Universe: Rather than being a simple character insert, and in a realm where the Justice League could enter the realm of RWBY, this tells RWBY in another direction if certain characters were born at specific moments and event happened at specific times.

  • Aloof Big Brother: Adam is this to Daniel in different ways, being much older, trained, and experienced in comparison, even defeating and physically scarring his younger half-brother in a battle a year prior. In addition to him being a cause of Daniel rarely ever acting as the "little brother", and always someone who never received support from others.

  • Badass Crew: There are several teams of four among the Huntsman on Remnant, with potential ones such as Team RWBY, DUSK, and JNPR. But, Team NOIR exemplifies a badass team, regarded as the best and worst team to have ever graduated from Atlas Academy; building up a strong reputation from their first to fourth years for completing impossible missions.

  • Badass Family: In the world of Remnant, where Grimm and the worst of villains tend to live, there are, of course, some families who became specialists in handling them.

    • Descending from the main family of the nameless tribe long before the Great War and Huntsmen were ever a thing, whether or not their eyes happen to be colored Silver, the Norden Family are born warriors. The oldest among the current generation, Daniel, isn't afraid to accept a challenge and deliver the beating of a lifetime. His mother, Natalia lives up to the title of "Atlas' Strongest Huntress", someone no one can order around.

    • Hunter might be unable to speak, but no other student from Sanctum Academy ever agreed to be "The" Pyrrha Nikos sparring partner before moving to Beacon Academy. In Chapter 26: A Belladonna's Dilemma, it is revealed that Hunter's father is one of the most dangerous mercenaries on Remnant, who taught him the means of hunting Humans, Faunus, and Grimm without discretion.

    • The Skye Tribe might not be a family in the general sense, but they are known for surviving out in Vacuo's deserts…but didn't last in the end. The sole survivor, Sandra, the leader's daughter took her mother's lessons to heart and ended up surviving alone until she was age 12 then entered Combat School.

    • The King Family produced Huntsman since the Great War but hasn't quite caught up with the times as female members aren't allowed to be Huntresses. Alyssa breaks this rule and ends up inheriting their Semblance, Pendragon, and earns her brother's ire.

  • Break the Badass: You'd have to expect in this one that there would be situations such as this.

    • Daniel is a rather confident and experienced Huntsman-in-Training compared to most first-years and even upperclassmen. But, this stems from the various experiences that he has had to experience from childhood leading to adolescence. At age 7, his uncle was murdered. At age 10, his mother was murdered. At age 13, he almost died and had to undergo rigorous rehabilitation until age 14. And he spent three years in Mistral, lower Mistral, in particular, where he found himself in multiple situations that he doesn't like to talk about.

    • Hunter might have learned a lot from his mercenary father about ironically hunting and using a bow, which is where his confidence stems from. But, it doesn't help when you're made mute due to a student's idiotic stunt, longing a Lightning Dust fragment his neck, frying his vocal cords' nerves. It soon took Pyrrh's friendship and aid for his confidence to return, but Hunter isn't real comfortable around people aside from Pyrrha until meeting Team DUSK.

    • Alyssa might come off as confident and fun-loving, no different from her first and best friend, Yang, but that's almost where the comparison ends. Due to her adamant desire to become a Huntress, a career limited to the men in the King Family, she was pretty much cut off the entire time. She received no support, emotional or otherwise as soon as she decided to enroll in combat school. It meant that since the age of 13, Alyssa pretty much took care of herself without familial support.

    • Sandra is a hardened young woman, surviving Vacuo alone after her mother left her behind capable of challenging whatever she comes across without fear. In Chapter 17, Sandra's Issues Pt. 4, after encountering a Cockatrice, Sandra is forced to experience her main painful memories, almost breaking her mentally. But, was brought back due to her team's assistance, regaining some of her timidness.

  • Blood Knight:
    • Whether or not it comes from their blood, those born into the Norden Family tend to be warriors who love a good challenge. And the thing is most of the time, none of them has to be the ones who start the fight in the first place, people just tend to come to them for a challenge without them doing much.

  • Cain and Abel: Adam and Daniel are half-brothers with different mothers, but the same father, a Faunus from Mistral, and a Human from Atlas. Despite their parents getting along well with one another, these half-brothers have never gotten along much. Despite this, neither of the brothers had genuine hate for one another, often sparring together. However, with the current state of Remnant, Human, Faunus, and the White Fang things didn't turn out well for their brotherly relationship.

  • Dark Secret:

  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:

    • Daniel embodies The Paragon, someone who loves aiding and supporting others so that they can become better, something which he's often seen doing. He, however, often doesn't have much of the same aid, being the oldest cousin, a leader, without much paternal support. Wiess pointed out she loves this part of Daniel, but hates how he puts up a nonchalant look even in painful moments for himself.

    • Sandra might not be his partner, but she embodies The Lancer literally and figuratively. Daniel might be serious sometimes, but he is often a positive idealist most of the time, Hunter and Alyssa might go along with his ideas often, but Sandra isn't afraid to speak up and have her suggestions.

    • Alyssa is the female version of a Knight in Shining Armor, being kind, noble, and compassionate, much better than that of her family.

  • Team Title: The title refers to the protagonists' team, Team DUSK.
