My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic 12 is a My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fanfic written by TwilightSparkle3562 that takes place after My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 10 and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 11.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 12 provides examples of"

  • Adaptational Badass: In this story, the Dazzlings are shown to be capable hand to hand fighters in their human forms, something that was never hinted at in the show.
  • Adaptational Explanation: In the series, the episode "Between Dark And Dawn" caused a Continuity Snarl by having Celestia and Luna ride the Wild Blue Yonder roller coaster, even though it was said to have closed for good after "Grannies Gone Wild." "Coaster Sisters" explains that Flim and Flam re-opened it.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Sonata is noticeably more perceptive in this series than in canon. She has very little in the season opener to show her ditzy-ness from in canon. She is also noticeably more sadistic, stating that now she and the others can claim victory over the "pathetic humans".
  • And I Must Scream: Grogar offers to free a village from their curse if they manage to kill Applejack and Rarity. When they fail, he imprisons them in his bell to drain them for energy.
  • Asshole Victim: Grogar seals an entire village of ponies in his bell in "The Wicker Mare" after they fail him. It's a horrific fate, and they were only helping Grogar so they would be freed from their curse, but considering they demonstrate absolutely no hesitation or guilt in their actions, it's a bit difficult to feel sorry for them.
  • Back from the Dead: King Vorak is revived by the Pillars in "Return of the King."
  • Badass Teacher: Tommy Oliver, Canterlot High's newest teacher, is also a retired Power Ranger. He made VERY quick work of the Legion when protecting Twilight and Starlight.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: The Mean 6. They create clones of Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker to try and overthrow Grogar, but he easily defeats them and banishes them to outer space.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Tommy Oliver stepped in when the Legion knocked out Twilight and Starlight.
  • Brought Down to Badass: The villains are still capable fighters as humans.
  • The Bus Came Back: As of the first arc of Season 12, the Dazzlings are now members of the Legion of Doom.
  • Cassandra Truth: When Flash got his bike stolen, he was late for school, but Vice Principal Luna didn't believe him until she got hard evidence. However, it is SLIGHTLY downplayed in that Principal Celestia DID believe him.
  • Crossover: With Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and, to a smaller extent, Transformers: Beast Wars.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The Legion were on both the giving end of this against Twilight and Starlight and on the receiving end from Tommy Oliver.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Tirek seems to have cared for his mother Queen Haydon (unlike in canon where he was apathetic about her). saying that he didn't like how his father blamed her for the way he turned out.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow are rather disturbed by Grogar's torture of Discord, despite their hatred of him.
  • Evil Versus Evil: The climax of "Send in the Royal Clones" has Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow fighting the Mean 6 and the clones of Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker. The trio are the ones meant to root for since they are portrayed as the Lighter Shade Of Black.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow decide they don't want to work for Grogar anymore after his torture of Discord, stating that what he is willing to do disgusts even them. However, they still plan on conquering Equestria for themselves.
  • Killed Off for Real: The season opener confirms that Vorak had indeed been killed by Tirek.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In "Send in the Royal Clones", Mean Twilight gets Tirek and Chrysalis to surrender by threatening to pluck Cozy Glow's wings, much like the Mean 3 forced the Mane 6 to stand down by threatening to pluck Spike's wings. Mean Twilight even lampshades it, saying it's a fitting end for them.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: A rare example of this happening to the VILLAINS, There is a brief scene with Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy briefly getting into a fight with the Dazzlings.
  • Pet the Dog: Heavily downplayed, but Tirek does mention that as long as Scorpan does not try to escape, he will not be harmed, showing he does still hold some care for him deep down.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Grogar and Sombra are aware of the Mean 3's treachery, but decide to keep them around for use in the meantime, before disposing of them later on.
  • Shout-Out: Tirek's taunting of Scorpan was extremely similar to a line Scar used on Mufasa in "the Lion King" (though modified to make it clear that Tirek has the advantage in both brains AND brawn).
  • Thrown Out the Airlock: Grogar captures the Mean 6, Nightmare Moon, and Daybreaker in his bell and launches them all into space.
  • Villain Episode: "Send in the Royal Clones" focuses entirely on the Mean 3 and the Mean 6.
    • Grogar and Sombra are aware of the Mean 3's treachery, but decide to keep them around for use in the meantime, before disposing of them later on.
  • Villainous Rescue: Grogar arrives just in time to save Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow from the Mean 6 and the clones of Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: "The Wicker Mare" is based off the film "Wicker Man".
  • You Have Failed Me: Grogar seals a village inside his bell after they fail to kill Applejack and Rarity.
