Lily Pilgrim vs Their World
is a Scott Pilgrim fanfic written by ApellaZant.
It takes place years after the events of Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour. As the title implies, the story focuses on the daughter of Scott and Ramona, Lily Pilgrim. But while her parents' story may be over, it eventually comes back to haunt her.
The main story of this fanfic contains examples of:
- A Hero Is Born: Heroine in the case of the story. Lily is born 8 months after her mother, Ramona Flowers, discovered that she was pregnant.
- Call-Back: Happens a lot during the story. When Lily was younger, Scott would tell her the stories about his adventures and how he took on the League of Evil Exes, all of which are referring to the events of all six books, though Scott's view on the story is similar to the film adaptation. Something which Kim claimed Scott didn't remember correctly.
- Evil All Along: As revealed at the end of chapter 10, Sean Williams, Gideon Graves' brother and Lily's Ex-Boyfriend, was the true mastermind behind forming the League of Evil Ex proxies and tricking Lily into thinking he was on her side, all to gain revenge on her parents killing Gideon, 21 years ago.
- Family of Choice: Though none of Lily's parents' friends (i.e. Kim, Knives, Stephan, and Lisa) are related, Lily still sees them as her family.
- Fan-Created Offspring: Lily Pilgrim herself.
- Flash Back: Many happen throughout the story. A lot of these involve a young Lily Pilgrim mostly hearing the stories about her parents' adventures and fights against the evil exes.
- A couple of them even showed Lily being with her Mother and Aunt Kim, being taught how to skate through the subspace highway and being encouraged when on stage and playing the drums.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Lily's band: Tanooki Dream
- Happily Married: In the story, Scott and Ramona eventually got married before Lily was even born.
- Implausible Synchrony: All clocks at the Pilgrim household are set exactly 4 minutes forward, no discrepancies in their malfunctioning.
- Like Mother, Like Daughter: During the story, Lily is like her mother, Ramona Flowers, in a way. She's able to access the subspace highway and travel through it with her built-in roller skate shoes. However, Lily is also like her father too, having gotten her fighting skills from him, even including her fifth-grade broadsword fighting skills too.
- Shout-Out: There were many shout-outs during the story. One of the notable references was the phrase spoken by Jor-El to his son, Kal-El in Superman The Movie. The Phrase was spoken by Scott, who tried to speak the words to his newborn daughter before Ramona stopped him from finishing.Scott: You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The daughter becomes the...Ramona: Scott...don't be a geek.
- The Reveal: Sean Williams reveals himself as the mastermind behind the Evil Ex proxies all for revenge on Lily's parents for killing his brother, Gideon.
- Time Skip: The whole story begins two years after Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, and Lily's story begins around 18 years after she was born.
- You Are Grounded!: Ramona says this to Lily after she was late home due to her being attacked by Winfred Hailey on her way home and because of the fact that all clocks at the Pilgrim household were set 4 minutes forward, which Ramona forgets. Later on, however, Ramona eventually gave up and ended her grounding because, as she put it, it was a disaster of grounding anyway.
