- After losing the 62nd winter cup in the first round, Maginot has lost in the first round for 14 consecutive years across two tournaments. Éclair has had enough. She challenges Madeleine for control and loses. Kicked off Maginot's tankery team, Éclair transfers to Ooarai to get away from tankery. Of course, this doesn't go to plan.
''Lightning''
is a Girls und Panzer fanfic written by KosherMommyMilkers that deals with For Want Of A Nail scenario where Éclair, just like in canon, challenged Madeleine to a duel for the position of commander but this time she lost just before she could make a winning shot. Following this, she and her driver Fondue, are ostracized and bullied out of Maginot and when the latter joins the BC Freedom, Éclair transfers to Ooarai to leave Sensha-do behind her. As one can imagine, that peace and quiet didn't last long... After being forced to take tankery one again (alongside with Miho) her presence, influence, advices and actions will bring a storm of changes and some delicious canon derail.
As of May 20th 2023, after nearly nine months since the last update, the author confirmed the story is abandoned.
Lightning provides exaples of:
- Adaptational Early Appearance: Canonicaly, Ogin and her team were introduced in das Finale, Part 1. Here, they already appear in Chapter 2, found by Éclair, when she was send under the deck during the search for tanks.
- Big "WHAT?!": Ogin's crew had that reaction when Éclair told them that Student Council forced her into tankery by threat of expulusion which was bizzare for them since they had helped them (Momo especially) in the past.
- Dream Intro: The story start with Éclair having a dream about match against Madeleine that she lost.
- Didn't See That Coming: Anzu, Yuzu and Momo definitely didn't expect Éclair to vomit violently after they hit her with that expulsion threat.
- Didn't Think This Through: Ami Chouno, after she sees how everyone have huge problems with driving their tanks, mutter to herself that maybe she should teach them how to drive first instead throwing them into battle and hope they figure it themself.
- Fangirl: Éclair, just like in canon, have a large amount of respect for Nishizumi Style and Shiho. Hilariously, she infects Rabbit Team with her appreciation which causes them to train harder because they want to be as strong as Shiho.
- For Want Of A Nail: What would happen if Éclair transferred to Ooarai and took command of their tank team with Miho as her vice-commander?
- Simillary, what would happen if Fondue joined BC Freedom and helped Asparagus and Marie in bringing Examinators and Escalators together?
- Gratuitous French: Éclair uses simple French words now and then when she speaks. Justified since she hails from French-themed school.
- The Movie Buff: Éclair turns out to be one with her main focus being the horror movies, a thing she get from her Maginot days when she and her team had the movie nights where they were trying to watch the scariest movie they could get.
- Rabbit Team, as in canon. And while they still watch historical war movies they've also come to like horrors, thanks to the Éclair, and they are using them as a sort of training in bravery.
- Pazomi also is one, since author is using her Operation: More Love Love! Web Edition version. In side story, when she, Gomoyo and Sodoko went to the Deck 13 because the latter thought Éclair was kidnapped by delinquents (for some reason), they barged into Donzoko Bar when Éclair and Ogin's crew was watching another horror movie and Pazomi was able to immediately recognize that they were watching Friday the 13th from a single paused frame.
- Odd Friendship: Many on the Ooarai team find it bizzare how easily Éclair made friends with Ogin and the rest (and apparently with some other delinquents too) and how regularly she hangs out with them.
- Stress Vomit: After being bothered by Student Council for few days and then threaten by them with explusion, Éclair couldn't hold it anymore and puked all over herself, right in front of them.
- Thousand-Yard Stare: Ami sports one when she sees the brightly-colored tanks of Ooarai team. Apparently even a carefree and fun-loving person like her can't understand what has possessed them to do something like this.Miho: "Um...Miss Chouno?" Miho calls out. The instructor in question continued staring at the line of tanks as if in a trance.Ami: "Why gold?" she mutters to herself.
- Took a Level in Badass: Rabbit Team. In canon it started in the middle of the series and then they truly shone in der Movie and das Finale. Here, they managed to show their skills already in mock battle set by Ami by taking out three tanks out of seven and making a few close shots at Miho's Panzer IV. And then during the exhibition match against BC Freedom, they appeared exactly when they were needed and contributed to victory by destroying two eney tanks in the same moment.
- Ogin's crew show the beginnings of this. Thanks to the actuall training, better tanks and tips from Éclair, even if they didn't yet done something extraordinary, they fought much more competently in mock battle and match with BC Freedom.
- BC Freedom itself managed to fight Ooarai without infighting and bickering among their ranks thanks to the Fondue who helped Asparagus and Marie in unifying the Examinator and Escalator factions. Even when it ended in their loss, it still remains as a big step for them towards the better future.
