Fanfic / Iwatani Naofumi - BitchSlayer

Go To

Summary: Naofumi got suspicious of Myne during their dinner, and, after a heated confrontation, her scheme got unveiled, leaving Naofumi with two options: To keep hating her and to blame the Shield for everything OR To embrace it, help her become Queen, and marry her—to rule over the fools who feared and vilified him. The choice was obvious.

Iwatani Naofumi - Bitch Slayer is a Rising of the Shield Hero Alternate Universe Fic written by SmutWithPlotFiction.

Instead of Naofumi being betrayed by Myne with the False Rape Accusation at the beginning of the story, he manages to foil her attempt by switching their drinks and confronting her of her motives. Seeing that he has no way of avoiding his reputation as a Hero being tainted by Myne's intended plan to slander him with a rape accusation or silenced her with death due to her status as the firstborn princess, he decides to Take a Third Option by literally raping Myne to prevent her from getting the last laugh. This weirdly had a positive outcome as the two reached a sort of compromise that leads them into something more.

The story was deleted near the end of 2021; as of January 2022, a mirror exists on Archive of Our Own, but per the wishes of the author it won't be linked from here.

Iwatani Naofumi - BitchSlayer provides examples of:

  • A-Cup Angst: While she is plenty busty herself, Raphtalia is a bit jealous of Myne for having slightly bigger boobs.
  • Adaptation Deviation: Rino stays a part of Motoyasu's party here.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Malty goes from being a low-functioning sociopath with a Chronic Backstabbing Disorder to someone actually capable of forming legitimate connections with other people and even falling in love. And because Naofumi was privy to Malty's scheme from the start and went along with it knowing she'd be supporting him, he's far less traumatized when he's shunned by Melromarc's royalty and the other Heroes, which leads him to immediately being kinder to his allies than he was in canon.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Unlike canon, Naofumi and Malty have genuine respect for each other. They eventually fall in love and get engaged.
  • Adaptational Curves: Raphtalia is more muscular here.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • Malty doesn't exactly lose all of her negative traits, as she still retains a bit of her sadistic streak, but her interactions with Naofumi gradually lead to her shaking off her worst impulses and make more of a long-term effort to being nice to other people. It's initially for purely pragmatic reasons, but she does find herself Becoming the Mask over time and legitimately enjoying the company of her companions.
    • Naofumi zigzags this. He can be just as ruthless and outspoken as his canon counterpart, and his end goal is to basically take over Melromarc, but because he was never traumatized by the False Rape Accusation and actually found common ground with Malty, he's willing to be civil with potential allies much more often.
  • Aggressive Submissive: Malty is usually a Sadist who enjoys watching people suffer, but enjoyed it when Naofumi ravaged her.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Raphtalia is noted by Naofumi to have muscular arms and a noticeable six-pack.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance:
    • Much like canon, slavery is legal in Melromarc, causing Naofumi to call out the nobility on acting like him owning a slave is some great crime when most of them own slaves too. While the other heroes try to insist that slavery is morally wrong, Naofumi counters that it's perfectly legal and acceptable in Melromarc.
    • On Earth, Motoyasu's habit of treating his companions as cheerleaders rather than adventurers would be rather patronizing. In Melromarc, it's extremely offensive and outright illegal. While not considered a particularly heinous crime, it's only Motoyasu's status as a Legendary Hero that keeps him out of legal trouble.
  • Didn't Think This Through: After Naofumi pulls a Poisoned Chalice Switcheroo on Malty and confronts her about her plans, the first princess gleefully admits she was going to frame him for rape, which carries the death penalty. What she didn't consider was that Naofumi would decide he had nothing to lose and simply strangle her then and there. It's only a stray idea by Naofumi that saves her life.
  • "Not If They Enjoyed It" Rationalization: Weirdly inverted. Naofumi considers what he did to Malty to be a sickening case of Pay Evil unto Evil that he's not particularly happy with. It's Malty who winds up downplaying the severity of the act, as it turns out she actually got turned on by Naofumi dominating her sexually and wants to have another go with him.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Downplayed in that Naofumi this time around did actually cross a moral line by raping someone, even if that someone was terrible, but he starts off believing himself to be far more ruthless and selfish than he actually is, mostly seen with his interactions with Raphtalia. Despite his internal insistence that he's just using her, it's clear that he actually cares about her well-being.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: What sets off the chain of canon-diverging events. Naofumi decides to go through with raping Malty after finding out about her plan to falsely accuse him of it to taint his reputation as a Hero.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Motoyasu's party is almost killed in a dungeon because he doesn't bother to share any details with them. Since there's no monsters present and Motoyasu is apparently wasting time lighting every candle along the way, his party members get bored and start blowing out the candles. It's only after Motoyasu opens the treasure chest at the end that they learn those candles were to keep away the monsters. Malty is subjected to Mind Rape with everyone she remotely cares about telling her how much they hate her, until her party manages to kill the monsters doing it.
  • Porn with Plot: The fic devotes as much time to fleshing Naofumi and Malty out as characters as it does to describing their sexual encounters.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • After learning Malty plans to frame him for rape, Naofumi convinces her to secretly support him because he'd be a viable failsafe in case her plans involving the church fail. If she succeeds, she becomes queen just like she wanted. If she fails, she can turn on the church and say she was spying for Naofumi.
    • Naofumi treats Raphtalia like a daughter, including deactivating the Slave Curse which punishes her for disobeying him, because he wants to earn her Undying Loyalty. His reason for buying her specifically is also because she'd be the most useful of the slaves within his (fake) price range.
    • Similarly to Naofumi, Malty treats Raphtalia well after reasoning it'd be less hassle than having the girl trying to supplant her. Naofumi's fully aware that her affection for his slave isn't genuine but decides the result is the same either way so it doesn't matter.
  • Take a Third Option: When stuck between getting his reputation tainted by Malty's False Rape Accusation or killing Malty and get executed for murder of the firstborn princess, Naofumi decides to spite her by going through with the rape she was going to falsely accuse him of.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Naofumi takes a different approach to this than he did in canon at the start. Due to actually going through with the rape, he comes to agree with the common assessment that he's a terrible person, but this only manifests in his thoughts. While externally doing his best to put on an affable front, internally, he's making calculations for how to best use others and acknowledging his actions as selfish.
  • Worthy Opponent: After being ravaged by Naofumi, Malty comes to view him as an equal capable of matching her in scheming and ruthlessness, which pushes her to genuinely ally with him.
  • Wowing Cthulhu: The fact that Naofumi actually manages to steer Malty into gaining a "somewhat" better moral compass and pragmatic mindset, as well as her gaining genuine feelings for him, is enough to impress Medea Pideth Machina. Especially since Malty is a fragment of Medea's personality and power whose sole purpose in life is supposed to sow discord and chaos amongst the native world's populace, so doing so should have been literally impossible.
