High schoolers today face many, very real issues. What is the solution? Sing about them. At least according to Glee: New Directions, a New Generation.
Glee: NDNG is an ongoing Glee spinoff fanfiction, a set of scripts for a musical teen dramedy much the same as its predecessor, written by Wiki user Remi Scout. It begins when Beth Corocoran is a Junior, and follows her quest to restart the Glee club and bring it back to its former Gleek-y glory.
The first 'episode' was released in April 2020.
Tropes Include:
- A Day in the Limelight: There are MANY characters, so not all of them can be focused on at once, but everyone gets some episodes mostly centred around them. Some examples of these will appear in the Characters section.
- Adults Are Useless: To an extent.
- Shawn is supposed to be the supervisor of the Glee Club, but it's Beth and Quentin who do everything.
- Aerith and Bob: Compare Blue, Ophelia, Magnolia, September and Misty to Beth, Ricky, Franky and Liam.
- Alpha Bitch: Ophelia comes across as a typical example, but she isn't really an alpha. Beth has all the power.
- Age-Inappropriate Art: Some of the songs performed are even worse than in the predecessor, since this version includes cursing.
- All Guys Want Cheerleaders: Beth and Ophelia are extremely popular. Damien too...
- Author Appeal: There are many, many showtunes.
