A Girls' Last Tour Fix Fic, Girls' Next Tour is a 2019 fan fiction by ContemplatingGrapefruit. It takes place after the events of the manga, in which Chito and Yuuri reached the highest layer of the megacity ruins. The story is basically the author's interpretation of what happened after, with a brand new story.

It was later re-written from 26 December 2019 up until 7 January 2020.

This fanfiction consists of the following tropes:

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Itsuki/Grandfather is not just the caretaker of Chito and Yuuri, he is also the father of Yasuo, Chito's father. This makes Itsuki related to Chito as his own granddaughter, something that never happened in the original material. Haruhi is also the mother of Chito.
    • Motoyasu is revealed to be the late father of Yuuri.
  • After the End: Just like in the source material, the fanfic is also set after humanity is devoid of all life. Subverted in the Epilogue when Kanazawa and Ishii later reach Russia, where they encounter Russian survivors, all not too friendly to begin with, in the ruins of an old airfield.
    • Also subverted, when one scene within the September chapter plays a rather ancient automated message in English, at least centuries ago, which mentioned that humanity managed to colonise Mars.
"This is an automated message from our home the planet 'Mars'. Please respond to this frequency. Every day we are looking at our beautiful blue planet wondering how is it back home - is anyone still alive there?"
  • Alternate Reality Episode: When the girls fell in a coma, Chito has a dream of an alternative reality where the war never occurred, with her and Yuuri happily spending their vacations travelling the world together. Another dream has Chito and Itsuki running for their lives from the outsiders, one of them being a vulgar and cold-blooded blonde girl very similar to Yuuri sent to kill Chito's grandfather and take her away, and in the same dream, Chito finds herself in a wheat field near the sea shore, then meets and converses with her other self.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Yuuri loses her left leg to frostbite following the hike to the ninth light. She later receives a neuroprosthetic leg as a replacement with no noticeable difference from her organic one.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • The Kettenkrad returns in Chapter 12, though still as an unsaveable wreck converted into a bathtub. Chito reveals that she took it away from the excavation crews without them noticing and decided to keep it for sentimental value.
    • Both Ishii and Kanazawa make a major, if not significant appearance in Chapter 13, who later become the central focus of the said chapter, revealing to be alive after all as they plan out leaving the megacity and reach Russia through a much more improved WWII-era plane.
  • Continuity Nod: Girls' Next Tour clearly takes place after the conclusion of the manga.
  • A Day in the Limelight:
    • While the vast majority of the fanfic still focuses on Chito and Yuuri, Girls' Next Tour often features several minor yet pivotal Flashback scenes that do not focus on both of them at all. Examples include Yasuo, Haruhi, Itsuki/Grandfather, Mieko, and Reo.
    • A late-arrival, highly spoilery variant. The entirety of Chapter 13 shifts heavily towards Kanazawa and Ishii, characters who were supposedly dead in the original manga. Initially, they were simply mere mentions by several characters including Chito and Yuuri. However, they both become the principal focus of this chapter, who turned out to be alive, where they both escape the megacity and arrive at post-post-apocalyptic Russia, in search for a new life.
  • Demoted to Extra: Chapter 13 does not focus on Chito and Yuuri at all, who become mere mentions, as Kanazawa and Ishii become the primary characters of this chapter.
  • Disney Death: Yuuri succumbs to a bad cold and seemingly drifts off to a Big Sleep while Chito tearfully begs her to stay awake. Following this, Chito tries to use the last of their explosives on a crack in the giant wall of the Biodome, and when she deemed her attempt a failure (despite setting off the alarm within the facility behind the wall), Chito decides to give up and "go together in the afterlife" with Yuuri. Fortunately, they were saved by Reo and Mieko because of said alarm, allowing the girls to survive at the cost of Yuuri's left leg.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Kanazawa and Ishii are this, as they later become the new residents of Lenski Stolbovi Experimental Unit, after going through a lot of respective failures they faced in the main manga.
  • Fix Fic: Even lampshaded by the author through an Author's Note in Chapter 1:
May this work of fiction bring you comfort and closure in the empty void in our hearts that the manga has left us with.
  • Furo Scene: The girls take a bath following their first tour of their new home in the Biodome. Chito gets unusually more flustered this time around, despite having taken several baths with Yuuri on the outside world.
  • Happily Married: Chito and Yuuri are later married in Chapter 11, and later even had a child named Aoki.
  • Heroic BSoD:
    • Chito goes into this in several moments, particularly Chapter 1:
Chito: I don't know what to do — I just really don't know Yuu-!
Chito: Please… Yuu - Promise me - I don't know what I will do, without you!
    • After Yasuo and Haruhi's deaths at the hands of the raiders, Itsuki went through this, as he was almost on the verge of Roaring Rampage of Revenge.
Itsuki: No... No... FUCKING HELL! NO!
  • Hidden Elf Village: The Biodomes. In contrast to the bleak post-post-apocalyptic surface, the Biodomes are living underground worlds that are reminiscent to Earth Just Before the End, as it is powered by an artificial sun. However, they are often hidden from plain sight, thereby making access to these facilities considerably difficult. For instance, the Lenski Stolbovi Experimental Unit in Russia is inconspicuous, which can only be accessed by the help of the Translator Robot. It is one such Biodome that exists, as the Translator Robot recounted that there are more Biodomes across the planet, but lost contact with them in the past few years.
  • Intoxication Ensues: Chito and Yuuri get drunk twice in the story, their second time being off red wine in a picnic.
  • Language Barrier: Played straight, when Kanazawa and Ishii attempt to communicate with the armed Russian troops guarding the airfield, in hopes of not getting killed by them. Thankfully, however, it was immediately subverted, when Misha later brings Kanazawa and Ishii into a Universal Translator robot.
  • Last Episode, New Character: Barring Chapter 14, as it is a bonus chapter, there are two instances of this trope being invoked.
    • Aoki, Chito and Yuuri's son, does not appear until Chapter 12.
    • Both Kanazawa and Ishii also fall into this. They are just mentioned characters throughout the fanfic by several characters in the story, until they take the story's centre stage relatively late within the epilogue chapter, thus Demoting both Chito and Yuuri as the main characters.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The Spoiler Cover immediately spoils the fact that Chito and Yuuri reached the highest layer at the end of the original manga.
  • Mood Whiplash:
    • Chapter 5 infamously invokes this trope. In this said chapter, Itsuki named the orphaned baby, who would be Yuuri, after his deceased wife. The next day, however, it is revealed that Yasuo and Haruhi, Chito's parents, were killed by armed raiders, who were both executed on the spot, quickly shattering Itsuki on the inside.
  • No Sense of Direction: Kanazawa, of all people, ironically. Despite being a competent cartographer, Ishii bombastically criticises his mistake of getting lost over Russia, thanks to an outdated map.
Kanazawa (to Ishii): I told you! The map I found is outdated and besides the snow outside, I can't see anything else. It was your idea to fly to Russia!
  • Relationship Upgrade: In Chapter 1, both Chito and Yuuri are later seen in a relationship with one another. In Chapter 11, they are later an Official Couple, who are Happily Married.
  • The Reveal:
    • Yasuo and Haruhi are revealed to be Chito's deceased parents, who were killed at the hands of the raiders.
    • Yuuri's name herself is also revealed to be the name of Itsuki's deceased wife.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Kanazawa and Ishii. While they are presumed to be dead in the canon through the dialogue piece by the Queen Eringi regarding survivors on the lowest levels, both of them turn out to be alive after all this time.
  • Spoiler Cover: The cover art is already a telltale sign that this fanfic is full of spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the Girls' Last Tour manga.
  • Walking Spoiler: You cannot talk about Ishii and Kanazawa without spoiling the main story that they are alive.
  • Wham Line:
    • A line at the end of Chapter 3 reveals that Itsuki/Grandfather is Yasuo's father.
    • Radio recording at the end of Chapter 12 shows that humanity is not totally extinct at all, as a portion of them managed to colonise Mars at an unknown time period, presumably years before the huge Robot War started.
  • Wham Shot:
    • Chapter 13. After Kanazawa and Ishii's arrival in Russia via their plane, a shot of Russian armed men is shown, attempting to kill both of them for trespassing, revealing that life on Earth is not even extinct, for the most part.
    • Ditto from the same example, a shot of the only known Biodome, Lenski Stolbovi Experimental Unit reveals that life on Earth is not even extinct as it seems, as this said Biodome contains over 3,000,565 humans living.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: During Chapter 13, Kanazawa and Ishii were like this, who finally escaped the megacity through a Yokusuka D4Y3 plane, as they were heading to Russia.
Kanazawa: "I wonder how we haven't crashed yet with your flying!"
Ishii:"Oh, gee... I wonder what kind of cartographer gets you lost over Russia!"
