As Thorin and the company prepare to enter the forests of Mirkwood, Kili is captured by goblins while hunting alone. After the Company leaves him for dead, Kili is faced with a terrible choice: be executed by Azog and his band of brutish orc soldiers, or become one of them.
Frailty
is part of a series called Tracing Lines by Flollius.
Frailty contains examples of:
- Cold-Blooded Torture: Azog's chief method of interrogation. Kili still bears the scars from his first session.
- Going Native: Kili has no choice but to adapt Orc customs, leading to some intense Culture Clash.
- Too Dumb to Live: Kili's horrendous Break the Cutie arc was all started by his deciding to sneak outside Beorn's home in the middle of the night to hunt rabbits. He still didn't deserve what happened to him, though.
- Took a Level in Badass: Thanks to copious amounts of character development, Kili transforms from a physically and emotionally immature child to a battle-hardened field commander. Understandably, he also Took A Level In Cynicism while still retaining his ideals.
