This story provides examples of:

  • The Chosen One: Played up much more here than in the series where Renton and Eureka were supposed to lead humans and Coralians into a union of coexistence by showing it was possible for the two races to live together but didn't go much further than that. Here the two are seen by the Vodarek as the voice of the Coralian and are expected to lead the world forward.
  • Fountain of Youth: One half of the Coralian gift is this which returns the elderly to their prime age.
  • Full-Circle Revolution: Stoner worries that this is what the World Parliament is going to become, just trading the Federation for another corrupt instituion. He's wrong.
  • Happily Married: Renton and Eureka became this during their year by themselves, having the Vodarek perform a ceremony for them. The two are constantly reaffirming their love for one another and never fail to comfort the other when they are suffering.
  • Healing Factor: Half of the Coralian gift is accelerated healing that can reverse all but the most severe damage.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Eureka turns into this during And I Shall Be Your Light. After discovering that another human Coralian is being created Eureka lets her uncertainties and hidden doubts get the better of her, especially when it comes to her love with Renton. Because of her past failings and how she hurt Renton in the past she's honestly convinced Ariadne is being sent to replace her, despite being Happily Married to Renton and the latter having gone to epic lengths to prove his love to her. It gets so bad that she begins having insecurities about having insecurities in the first place.
  • Like a God to Me: Adroc was like this to Eureka, viewing her like some angel come to judge mankind. Both Eureka and Axel note how unhealthy the point of view was.
  • Mindlink Mates: Renton and Eureka have become this, influence from the Coral allowing the two to join their minds together and share their thoughts and emotions.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Stoner after the mess he caused by reaching out to the Voice of the People in Thuu Bak. He actually holds himself in the same regard as the worst traitors in history because of his actions.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero:
    • Stoner contacts the Voice of the People in Thuu Bak, looking to form a legitimate alliance. This puts all of Gekkostate in real danger because the group is little more than a bunch of violent thugs.
  • Parents as People: Axel admits this was the case with Adroc, who was a Workaholic that was so wrapped up in his projects that he neglected his family. He cared to be certain but Axel divulges that Adroc only had the minimum of involvement in Renton's upbringing that he did because Renton's mother had been dying before he was born.
  • Stop Worshipping Me: Renton and Eureka are essentially a messiah duo to the Vodarek, being seen as the voice and will of the Coral. The two are willing to work with the Vodarek but find the worship and praise to be a bit much to handle.
  • Wham Shot: At the end of Loss of Life Renton looks over a Compac Drive Maurice has and sees something in it: letters forming the name Ariadne.
  • Wham Line: Towards the end of And I Shall Be Your Light Eureka says one that upends everything about Ariadne.
Eureka: "We've waited for you so long, my little one. Oh so long... my precious Ariadne."
