Go To

Chapter of the Raven is a Princess Tutu fanfiction and has been created by magiaburst. The story follows Lucy; who is guided by a familiar old man to venture to the peaceful town of Gold Crown to stop an apparent creation of his. Meanwhile, Ahiru and Fakir are confronted with a new antagonistic raven girl, Lilith. Eventually, their paths cross, bringing forth secrets no one expected.

Chapter of the Raven contains examples of:

  • Anime Hair: Lilith's hair fans out on both sides; giving off the illusion of horns. Quite fitting to her name, isn't it?
  • Ancient Conspiracy: The Bookmen are very much still around - except for their leader, who is out of town during the duration of the story, allowing Autor to steal a page from them that contains a spell to summon fairy tale spirits.
  • Awful Truth: When Lucy questions Drosselmeyer on his intents to have her find the Raven beneath the town (while knowing that he is dead), he brings up the despair Lilith brings her, dryly stating that "it would be interesting to see".
  • Big Bad: Princess Lilith is this stories' antagonist, that while working with Drosselmeyer, first and foremost uses him for her own agenda.
  • The Corruption: Chapter 5 onwards, Lucy finds herself in an internal conflict as Lilith begins to take more and more control of her. During the final chapter, she almost destroyed Lucy's personality entirely. She gets better, however.
  • Creepy Crows: Just like Kraehe, Lilith's appearance is signalised by a massive conspiracy of ravens.
  • Dance Battler: Lilith combats Fakir with a scythe in the seventh chapter.
  • Dark Magical Girl: Lucy's (unwilling) alter ego, Princess Lilith.
  • Deus ex Machina: Before Princess Tutu loses her free will and emotions to Lilith, Fakir pulls her out before things got worse.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After a lot of hoping and a long struggle, Fakir and Ahiru finally manage to give latter a permanent human form. All thanks to Ludwig.
  • Eye Color Change: Every time Lilith takes control of Lucy, her blue-grey eyes turn crimson.
  • Famous Ancestor: Drosselmeyer's father, Ludwig-Ambrecht is introduced, who is a spinner that exceeds even his son in power. Lucy is his creation.
  • Forceful Kiss: Selene's first kiss? Lilith, who entranced her into becoming her bride in hopes to gain her heart. Of course, Lucy isn't happy with it and luckily, Selene does forgive her, knowing it was not her fault.
  • Foreshadowing: In the fourth chapter, Lillie exclaims how "cute" it would be if Lucy was to be an evil princess attempting to take over the academy, in which Lucy in return commands her to dance forever in the red shoes for her enjoyment, before the two laugh it off. While she does not wear red shoes, she does in the sixth chapter.
  • Happily Adopted: During the aftermath, Ludwig adopts Uzura; as Drosselmeyer is gone. For good.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Lilith does this a few times to both Princess Tutu and Fakir.
  • Involuntary Dance: Lilith ends up enchanting Lillie into dancing mindlessly, so that she could take the opportunity to steal her heart as a "final act". This is averted by Princess Tutu... who in return is taken under control instead, almost stripping her off her free will and emotion in the process. If it was not for Fakir, Lilith would have had won.
  • Invisible Parents: Lucy's mother, Anneliese, never appears physically. Averted with Ludwig during the final chapters.
  • Instant Cosplay Surprise: Both Selene and Lillie are victims to this, courtsey of Lilith.
  • Jumped at the Call: When the spirit of Princess Tutu asks Selene to take her role to combat Lilith, it is Ahiru that willingly chooses to be Princess Tutu once more. Because of that, she regains a human form and can transform back into Princess Tutu. This time, without the pendant.
  • Kiss of Death: Lilith to Selene. If it was not for Princess Tutu.
  • Marionette Motion: Lillie and Princess Tutu in the fifth chapter.
  • Moment of Awesome: When the villain tries to aim for Autor's heart, he defends himself with an rusty old sword that was left behind on the Oak Tree field. Another example is during the final chapter, when Tutu calls out to Lucy's consciousness. After a dance and a spell conjured by Fakir and Ludwig, Lucy regains control and tears off the pendant. She shatters it, effectively destroying Lilith.
  • Moment of Heartwarming: When the spirit of Princess Tutu sadly recalls her past, Selene cheers her up. That causes her to cry, which is represented by Ahiru tearing up for no reason. Selene also cheers Autor up later, when when Autor explains to her that he feels unfairly treaten by destiny.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: When Lucy discovers that she is Lilith, she is obviously rather shaken.
  • Mysterious Past: Lucy is a creation by Drosselmeyer's father, Ludwig-Armbrecht. She is made aware of this fact early on.
  • Official Couple: Ahiru/Fakir and Selene/Autor.
  • Only One Name: Selene and Lucy's last names are never mentioned in the story. Averted for Drosselmeyer, which's first name is revealed to be Dietrich.
  • Nightmare Fuel: During a nightmare, Lucy is almost pulled into a mirror by an amused Lilith.
  • Rage Against the Reflection: Once her realisation strucks, Lucy tries to defy Lilith. When Lilith attempts to take control in Chapter 6, Lucy tries to stop her taking control, but after being kissed by Lilith's spirit, she once again loses control of herself. A more successful one appears in the eighth chapter: With the help of Ludwig and Fakir, she manages to resist Lilith and destroy her.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: It is later revealed that Lucy is the reincarnation of a long fallen princess. Lilith used to be a part of her and their king had forcefully seperated them. Feeling worthless without her other half, she sought out the Raven.
  • The Promise: In a rare villainous example, Lilith reveals that when she was still alive, she promised The Raven to help him proceed in his goals in exchange to be reunited with her other half - who has reincarnated into Lucy.
  • Transformation Trinket: Lucy's purple pendant is the source of connection between Lilith's spirit and her. It hurts her more than it helps her. The worst part? She can't take it off.
  • Wham Line: "A girl, powerful enough to soothe the souls of those that are left behind. A girl, that despite her odd self, appreciates just about each and everyone. Someone, with a heart just as pure as the one of Prince Siegfried long ago. Do you not believe that such is just ironic... dearest Ahiru?" - Lilith to Tutu, revealing that she knows her identity and that she has the purest heart.
