Magic and the supernatural exists. A fact Midoriya Izuku discovers when he is on the verge of dying to the Sludge Villain and meets Death, or an aspect of them. She cuts a deal with him, where he gets to survive the Sludge Villain in exchange for becoming one of her contractors.
Izuku agrees to the terms.
Tropes in this fic include:
- Adaptational Heroism:
- Instead of being the villain known as Dabi, Touya is an underground Pro Hero known as Sol and it's implied to be because he is part of the magic world as another Contractor of Death.
- Toga isn't a villain in this story, with her also planning on going into the Management Course at UA and is a vampire.
- Adaptational Superpower Change: Instead of being given One For All by All Might, Izuku is given magical powers by Death.
- Adaptational Species Change: Due to magic playing a part in the world, some of the characters had their species changed:
- Izuku is turned to a physically visible ghost after meeting Death.
- Ashido is Cambion (Half-demon) and her mother is a full-blooded demon.
- Toga is a vampire and so is Yaoyorozu. Toga turns Yaoyorozu into one due to an incident where Yaoyorozu was mistaken to be in near death and Toga turning Yaoyorozu to a vampire to save her life.
- Shinsou is a changeling.
- Adaptational Relationship Overhaul:
- Due to Adaptational Heroism and being a Contractor of Death, Dabi has a better relationship with the rest of his family members sans Endeavor.
- Yaoyorozu and Toga are close friends. In canon, they never really interacted.
- Damsel out of Distress: Ochako ends up getting kidnapped by magic traffickers after seeing them capture two supernatural girls. She manages to break out of her imprisonment and save the two girls with nothing but her wits and Quirk.
- Epic Fail: The cult Izuku rescues Kirishima and Mina from is, in his own words, not in the top five cults he’s ever fought. What makes this an epic fail is the fact that they’re only the third cult he’s ever fought.
- Point of Divergence: Since Izuku died before All Might could get to him, Death approaches Izuku and make him a contractor. Thus, Izuku did not know about All Might's injury at all.
- Super-Empowering: Death gives Izuku magical powers in exchange for becoming a Contractor.
