Fanfic / Ashes To Ashes A Legacy

Go To

An ongoing Sims 4 Fan Fic about a German family. Each generation tends to have a different plot from all the others. As of this writing, the story is on gen Six and has been going on for two years. Can be read here.

Ashes To Ashes: A Legacy contains examples of

  • Anti-Hero: Everyone but Alex. Every other member of the family has so many flaws that the entire family becomes very morally grey for one reason or another.
  • The Atoner: A variant. Jocelyne takes on raising Zayne, feeling she needs to after never healing her relationship with her brother.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: Not in an abusive regard, but characters make a lot of mistakes, ones that leave the readers screaming at the characters to get their lives together. Many characters aren't very good parents, even if they improve over time and learn from their mistakes, there is a long line of screwups ever since Gen Two's Mari.
  • Butt-Monkey: Jocelyne is an extreme example.
  • Cool Aunt: Clara.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Mari resorts to this after she is cheated on, to disastrous levels.
    • Tobi also does it in his later life, after his son and daughter-in-law are killed.
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Zayne early on in his story arc.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Jocelyne's triplets are known as Charlie, Tony, and Alex. Short for Charlotte, Antoinette, and Alexandria
  • Ill Girl: Harper is often in the hospital as a toddler, with numerous health problems. Justified, as she was premature at birth.
  • Jerkass: Many characters start out as or end up becoming this.
  • May–December Romance: Mark and Jocelyne, much to the chagrin of their families though for reasons besides the age gap.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Florian accuses Clara of cheating on him while he's on tour, not helped by two of his bandmates stating she could be. Clara's actually pregnant.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jocelyne and Mark, when they find out Mark's daughter Hazel is dating Jocelyne's brother Lucas.
    • Another example comes when Zayne realizes Dom has just said their teacher's name, revealing that Zayne isn't a college student like he said he was.
  • Parental Favoritism: Tobi and Colette seem to be involved more often with Lucas' activities, rather than Jocelyne's.
  • Parental Substitute: Jocelyne takes on raising Zayne after Luc and Hazel are killed.
  • Parting-Words Regret: Joce regrets not reconciling with Luc before he and his wife Hazel die in a fire.
  • Poor Communication Kills: A common theme in Ashes to Ashes. Many problems stem from the Rosebrook's lack of decent communication. They avoid telling others about their problems at any and all costs and dig themselves into a deeper hole by the chapter until they're inevitably found out. Sometimes, it'll turn out that they had nothing to worry about, other times there'll be a bigger blowup because they didn't just fess up!
  • Second Love: Jonas for Mari. And Devin for Harper.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Zayne's friend Dom causes Zayne to lose the respect and friendship of many college students, after blurting out their teacher's name in response to another party-goer's story.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Several minor characters disappear after a time, and are not seen or heard from again.
  • Who's Your Daddy?: Mari ends up pregnant by a man she didn't really know, during one of her drunken escapades, and doesn't know who the father of her twins are. It's a man named Josh.
  • Wonder Child: Harper, after her parents tried several times, and could not carry a child to term before her. Harper herself was premature.
  • Your Cheating Heart: Several characters cheat, and are cheated on, throughout the story. One early example being Diego cheating on Mari.
