Fandom Specific Plot / Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!

Go To

Several Fandom Specific Plots have spawned in the fanbase due to trained cards and some 2DMV appearing to be set in alternate universes:

  • While they're from two unrelated events, artists in the fanbase tend to put Toya's trained "A Love Song Dedicated to You" card in the same Alternate Universe as the cards from the "Knights in White" Gacha, usually in relation to Akito's trained "No Compromise in Making Chocolates" card. In this setting, Toya is a prince while Akito (primarily), Tsukasa, Mizuki, and Shiho (Rarely, due to her not having a relationship with him) are his knights. At times the other members of Vivid BAD SQUAD are brought in to be knights as well, despite not being featured in the set from the game. Some fans expand on this universe by adding other character outfits that weren't in either gacha with Rui's "Endless Imagination and Challenges" and the characters from "The Wandering Hermit's Path" gacha usually appearing as villains.
    • Upon reveal, the cards from the "Imperial Soliders" gacha were subject to many fanarts incorporating them into this Alternate Universe, helped by the fact the costumes were designed to match the ones from the "Knights in White" gacha from the previous White Day. When these cards are incorporated in to the AU, Toya's role as prince is often retained, although he defected against his kingdom at some point and now fights back against his father's reign. Since Rui's costume heavily resembles the ones from the "Knights in White" set, he's often written to be a former knight or sorcerer who defected alongside Toya, with Saki usually following suit.
  • Treating the "Striped" versions of the Vivid BAD SQUAD members from the full SEKAI version of "Traffic Jam" as separate characters from the group with crude, Jerkass personalities has become a common trend in the fanbase. This is because of how the original "Traffic Jam" characters were interpreted, as they were also separate, likely corrupted versions of the unnamed humans in that song. As well, while the Vivid BAD SQUAD members in the song retained their original hair colors even in their "Traffic Jam" inspired costumes, fans tend to recolor their hair to be yellow and black in fan art like the original characters from the song.
  • Similarly, the versions of the Vivid BAD SQUAD shown in the 2DMV in "Devil's Manner" are also treated as separate characters from the Vivid BAD SQUAD members. Their designs are still kept grayscale (except for their eyes and fingernails, like in the MV) even outside of the MV setting, and fans tend to headcanon them as being The Stoic due to the nature of the song and their Dull Eyes of Unhappiness.
    • A popular sub alternate universe created by a now-deactivated Twitter fanartist that spawned from this has An as the protagonist of an RPG maker horror type game that gets trapped in the "The Devil's Manor" where the other members of the Vivid BAD SQUAD appear as demonic spirits either trying to help her or get rid of her. Members of Nightcord at 25:00 also appear as mini-bosses.
  • The trained cards for the mixed event close game/OFFLINE spawned several AU for the characters, some in which the main characters from the group (+ Miku occasionally) are all on the same team fighting against a common enemy in a Cyberpunk style city, and some where Nene/Emu and Akito/Toya are on opposing teams, mimicking the plot of the event itself. For more character-specific plots:
    • Emu tends to be written as a Blood Knight or Psychopathic Woman Child due to her crazed expression in her "Your Eyes are Sparkling" trained card.
    • More than a few fans have interpreted Toya as being an android due to his unlock outfit appearing to have a sleeve that resembles a robotized arm. Akito is sometimes written to be his mechanic. Other times, it will be Nene if she's headcanoned to be The Smart Guy.
    • Nene is at times written as The Smart Guy on the team, while Emu and Akito are the Cute Bruiser and The Big Guy, respectively. Toya is either the Naïve Newcomer or a well-trained stoic gunner.
    • If the group is given animal sidekicks, they will be based on the avatars the characters picked in the fictional arcade game Gunslinger Jungle from Akito's "Together With the Plushies" side story. For Akito, it's an orange wolf, a two-toned panda for Toya (mirroring his hair color), a green owl for Nene, and a pink alligator for Emu.
    • Other characters from Wonderlands x Showtime and Vivid BAD SQUAD are at times brought into this AU with their own unique variants of the event outfit despite not being present in the event itself. As well, while rarer than the former, sometimes members of the other units will be brought in to further fill out the setting.
  • Some fans have taken to expanding on the "Salamander" MV "universe", primarily with Akito being a Salamander Hunter and Ena and Miku, the salamanders, being his targets.
  • Swapping around the personalities and backstories of characters in each unit has become a prevalent trend in the Western fanbase. For example, there is a surprising amount of Nightcord at 25:00 Tsukasa art, reflecting the kind of character Tsukasa would become if his backstory was a little more depressing.
  • After the release of Toya's Unimaginable Handling of Puyo's and its unlockable hairstyle which gives Toya bangs, an Akito/Toya Boys' Love AU where Toya is a shy bookworm and Akito is a delinquent (usually portrayed with his A Night of Defeat limited hairstyle) had become popular in the JP and KR sides of the player base.
  • It's very common for fans of both Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! and MILGRAM to portray Futa as a member of the Shinonome family, due to sharing many of the family's quirks and interests, as well as covering "Salamander" which was sung originally by the Shinonome siblings.
  • The Valentine's Day cards from 2022 and 2023 are often considered to be a part of the same AU, with the cards from the "Secret Tea Time" gacha often being some form of nobility. Usually Airi/Shizuku, Ichika/Saki and Emu/Nene are shipped as part of this AU. This is sometimes combined with the Fantasy AU based on the White Day cards.
  • The 1st and 2nd anniversary cards are also considered to be part of the same AU, due to both having a lily motif.
  • The paid "Magic Academy of SEKAI" costumes for the game's 2.5th anniversary were quickly adapted into a magic school AU, particularly in the JP and KR sides of the fanbase.
  • Many of the plays Wonderlands x Showtime performs in-universe are adapted into A Us by the fandom. "Torpe the Pianist" is one example of a play that is particularly popular amongst fans of the unit.
    • A Us based on the mermaid-themed cards from the Mermaid Admiration event are also very popular, though they tend to deviate from the plot of the play performed in the story. This might be caused in part due to Tsukasa lacking an event card despite playing a key role in the play, so artists often use one of his other cards (often his King of Smiles outfit) and change his role within the story. That said, the main reason for plot deviation is probably shipping - since 3 out of 4 of Wonderlands x Showtime play siblings in the performance, this part of the plot is usually written out of AUs.
  • The astronaut and scientist-themed cards from the Get over it event spawned a fairly popular AU involving the members of Leo/need exploring space together. It helped that a plot was handed to the fans through the Aioi MV, which is actually an animated comic.
