Fan Fic: The Purple Essence
The Purple Essence is a fanfiction based off of the The Legend of Spyro and written by one of our fellow tropers, Rovas117 - or better known as Zayril Rovas.

After Malefor's defeat and the world's restoration, the world has entered a state of peace. However, on one fateful night, a new form of evil rears its ugly head - one that could devastate the entire dragon race if allowed to prevail. Thus, begins Spyro and Cynder's new adventure to save their homeland, once again. But this time, they will have some more new allies fighting alongside them, as well as new foes and challenges assaulting them...

This fanfiction can be read at DeviantArt or at Fanfiction.net.

The Purple Essence provides examples of:

  • An Ice Person: Izrayl's (and of course, Cyril's) main elemental powers are of the ice element.
  • Benevolent Precursors: The Artisans. They are the ancestors of the dragons, and developed many forms of magic and technology. Sadly, most of their knowledge was lost over the many centuries.
  • Big Damn Heroes: In chapter 3, Izrayl arrives in the nick of time and fires an icicle at the ape that was battling the weakened Spyro and Cynder, and in the process, kills it. As a result, he saves Cynder from an untimely demise at the hands of that ape.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Ember really is a fan of Spyro's deeds.
  • MacGuffin: The three pieces of the rare purple crystal. According to a scroll written in the time of the Ancients, it is said to be very powerful and grants the user the ability to rule over dragons.
