After building a fandom with the fanfiction series The Lion King Adventures, ThatPersonYouMightKnow wrote a dark, drug-oriented spinoff featuring characters from the original series in a detective spoof centered on Detective TPYMK, based on the author himself, investigating the death of his friend, the lion cub Haiba, and trying to stop the deadly drug Sumu.
In the sequel, Detective TPYMK is on the beat again helped by a drug-addled lioness named Sarafina, who featured in Disney's original film for less than a minute. The Haiba Mystery eventually led to another series called Poison.
A Dramatic Reading was recorded by Anonymous13B, originally on SoundCloud, but available on other websites.
The Haiba Mystery provides examples of:

- Bar Fight: TPYMK squares off against Interceptor, Hago, and Scar.
- Big Bad: Aibu in the first installment, and Death in the subsequent installments.
- Cheerful Child: TPYMK claims that Haiba was "a happy guy. Never stopped smiling. Always joking around."
- Drugs Are Bad: One of the main themes of the series.
- Irony: TPYMK is a teetotaler, yet gets into the above-mentioned bar fight.
- Man Behind the Man: Death is the boss of Aibu and Timon and Pumbaa, as well as the creator of the Sumu drug.
- The Reveal: Simba was addicted to Sumu and killed Haiba because he had an affair with Nala.
- Spin-Off: Of The Lion King Adventures, itself fanfiction of The Lion King.
- The Teetotaler: TPYMK doesn't drink alcohol, but rather chocolate milk.
