The Fledgling Assassin is an upcoming Novel by writer Arc.fish.

Jennifer is an unassuming high school girl who has trouble understanding the people around her and feels like she doesn’t belong. However, when her police detective dad comes a little too close to catching a notorious assassin nicknamed The Winged Death, he kidnaps the girl and threatens her father to leave him alone – only for both perpetrator and victim to realize Jennifer may fit into the role of assassin better than she ever fit into her normal life.

This book provides examples of:

  • Big Bad: Sedge spends most of the story trying to track down the person respsonbile for his traumatic past. In the end Sedge takes her down with little difficulty.
  • The Blade Always Lands Pointy End In: Discussed when Sedge explains to Jennifer that throwing knives almost never works because of how difficult it is to get it to lend pointy-end-in. Ultimately averted, as Sedge is the only one who throws knives throughout the book, and indeed every single time it lands point-end-in.
  • Easter Egg: Stage 4 of the book is called "The First Letter" and consists of just one page. Taking the first letter of each sentence on that page yields the word "Webcomic". The actual events of what happened during this stage can indeed be found in the webcomic.
  • Professional Killer: The majority of the characters kill people in exchange for money.
  • Psycho Supporter: Jennifer is an interesting example. Sedge's traumatic experiences at least give him a Freudian Excuse for becoming an assassin. Jennifer, on the other hand, seems to be just psychopathic and finds herself genuinely enjoying their job despite herself.
  • Shout-Out: Several:
    • Jennifer refers to Sedge as being Batman due to his overpreparedness for any situation. She also mentions his attitude of being unable to decrease the number of killers by killing killers.
    • During the chapter The Sixth Target: The Designer, several references are made to Person of Interest.
  • Sparing Them the Dirty Work: During the ending, Sedge finds himself unable to kill Ankh, because he truly wants to kill her for revenge, which in his own eyes would make him just as bad as her. Fortunately Jennifer saves him the trouble by professionally killing Ankh for him.
