Timothy Dingwall Bateson, (3 April 1926 — 15 September 2009), was a British character actor.

He first took an interest in acting at Oxford, when he joined the Oxford University Dramatic Society. On stage, he appeared in the first British production of Waiting for Godot in 1955 and on screen, he starred in The Adventures of Peter Simple in 1957.

Following this came many bit roles in films including What a Carve Up!, Doctor in Distress (1963), The Wrong Box, and The Italian Job (1969). On TV he did much of the same, with his bigger roles coming as William Guppy in Bleak House, Wally Trott in Shine a Light, and Mr. Thomson in Grange Hill.

Bateson did a fair bit of voiceover work, voicing some of the puppet characters in Labyrinth, O.J. (and a few others) in TUGS, and Kreacher in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, his final acting role.

He died at the age of 83.
