Tan Twan Eng (陳團英, born 1972) is a Malaysian author. He is the first Malaysian to be recognised by all three of the following: the Man Asian Literary Prize, the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction, and the Man Booker Prize — all for the same book, no less. (The Garden of Evening Mists, which won the first two prizes and was shortlisted for the second.)
He studied law in London and practiced as a solicitor in Kuala Lumpur before becoming an author. He has a first-dan ranking in aikido.
