"People who get snobbish about the Carry Ons don't understand that it's not everybody can play that sort of thing."

Jimmy Logan, OBE, born James Allan Short, (4 April 1928 — 13 April 2001), was a Scottish performer, producer and director.

In The '30s and The '40s, his family toured the music halls of Scotland. Logan became the house manager for his family and was in pantomime by 1944.

He made his first appearance in a film in Floodtide in 1949 and would continue to have occasional film roles for the rest of his life. At the start of The '70s, he appeared in two of the Carry On films - he starred in Carry On Abroad as randy Scotsman Bert Conway and Guest Starred in Carry On Girls as the appropriately named Cecil Gaybody, a role he later stated was the most embarrassing thing he had ever done.

He died of cancer, 9 days after his 73rd birthday.
