Intamin Amusement Rides is a major manufacturer of amusement rides and rollercoasters based in Liechtenstein. Part of the larger Intamin AG company, it got its start in 1967 as a contractor for various ski lift and cable car builders, getting its first taste of the amusement park industry in 1969 when it was tasked with constructing the Oil Derrick observation tower at Six Flags Over Texas. A decade later, they built their first rollercoaster, Wilderness Run at Cedar Point, and have been heavily involved in the theme park industry ever since.

As a major player in the 1990's and 2000's rollercoaster arms race, Intamin are responsible for many of that era's record breakers and signature attractions. After that period, which also came with a number of high-profile incidents and service issues, Intamin chose to step back and focus on smaller projects for local European parks before returning to the limelight for their refinement of launch coaster technology. In recent years Intamin has also developed a working relationship with Universal Parks & Resorts, becoming the go-to manufacturer for many of their big new rollercoaster offerings.

On the research and development side of things, the general public will likely best know Intamin for being the company that invented the River Rapids (their first installation being Thunder River at Six Flags AstroWorld in 1980), and for building the first Drop Tower. They are also acknowledged with having perfected the use of linear synchronous motors on rollercoasters, which provide many operational and efficiency benefits over the older linear induction motors, and LSM's are now standard on virtually all new launch coasters.
