Esma Cannon, born Esma Ellen Charlotte Littmann, (27 December 1905 – 18 October 1972), was an Australian-born character actress who had a notable career in Britain appearing in films and on television until her retirement in the early '60s.
Cannon began acting on the stage at the age of four. Her first film appearance was an Uncredited Role in The Man Behind the Mask and her first credited role was in The Last Adventurers, under the name Polly Shepherd.
Some of her most fondly remembered roles were Aunt Emily in What a Carve Up!, Mrs. Jones in Nurse on Wheels and her four appearances in the Carry On... Series between 1960 and 1963.
She died at the age of 66.
