”Man is a unique creation: a fusion of body and soul. Contrary to popular belief, no demon can fully possess a body. The soul is always anchored to the flesh. We, the Soulfinders, find the soul. We purge the demon.”
—Reginald Crane

Soulfinder is a Religious Horror comic series published by Iconic Comics. It is written by Douglas Ernst and illustrated by Tim Lim.

Former soldier Patrick Retter, who lost a leg to an IED, is now a priest and exorcist in the sleepy town of Steepleton, Maryland. He's alerted to cases involving the occult by his Friend on the Force Gregory Chua, and in his capacity as an exorcist, he works to purge the area of demons and solve whatever problems they cause. This brings him to the attention of Reginald Crane, a leader in the Vatican's combat-trained exorcist squad known as the Soulfinders, and Retter is offered admission himself. But the demonic threats arrayed against Retter, his family, and his community keep growing, and Retter will have to use every trick he knows to defeat the demonic powers that desire nothing more than to damn him and everyone he loves.

This comic contains examples of the following tropes:

  • An Arm and a Leg: Retter lost a leg to an IED.
  • Badass Preacher: The Soulfinders are these, pretty much by definition. There's a reason they only accept combat veterans into their ranks.
  • Bald of Authority: Crane is bald, and he's the leader of the Soulfinders.
  • Darker and Edgier: Compared to the other properties in the Iconic Comics Shared Universe. It eschews the bright, colorful, and animesque features of Black Hops and Kamen America, and instead uses a darker and more realistic tone.
  • Friend on the Force: Chua serves as this, helping Retter deal with local authorities and pointing him towards cases involving the occult.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Retter and his sister Dani don't get along, both due to Dani's dismissal of Retter's faith and her frustration that he isn't around to support their ailing mother as much as she, Dani, is.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Blackfire takes the form of a huge snake.
