Linda Carter, Student Nurse is a comic book series from Marvel Comics, written by Stan Lee and largely illustrated by Al Hartley. The series stars the titular Linda Carter, with a supporting cast drawn the nurses and intern she works with.

The series is a comedy Anthology Comic with romance elements, with multiple short strips in each issue (some short text stories also appear).

The core cast includes Linda's boyfriend Steve Stuart, her roommate Dolly Noonan, her rival Gwen Glitter and intern Jackson J. Jangle. Nurse Barker regularly appears as an authority figure for the student nurses.

After the series ended, a version of Linda reappeared as one of the leads of Night Nurse and later became a supporting character in the shared Marvel Universe.

The first issue was released June 8, 1961.

Linda Carter, Student Nurse provides examples of:

  • Alliterative Name: Given that Stan Lee wrote the series, it's no surprise that a few of these appear:
    • Gwen Glitter
    • Jackson. J. Jangle
    • Steve Stuart
    • Linda's famous cousin, Hildy Heavenly
  • Anthology Comic: A typical issue contains multiple short strips (some only a single page) and a short text story.
  • Comically Lopsided Rivalry: Gwen is always trying to outdo Linda in some way, and always without success. Even when she's trying to steal Steve's affections, Linda seems largely oblivious to her scheming.
  • Florence Nightingale Effect: Exploited. Linda pretends to fall for Jackson's patient John Gallant, who's lost his will to live, in the hope it'll give him a reason to recover. We don't see what happens when John finds out.
  • Is There a Doctor in the House?: Used word for word when Linda and Steve are out on a date in a nice restaurant. More broadly, people needing help (or simply asking for medical advice) are a recurring theme when the cast are away from work.
