New series, new costumes

Knights of Pendragon is a 1992 comic book series from the Marvel UK imprint of Marvel Comics. It's written by Dan Abnett and John Tomlinson, initially with art by Phil Gascoine and Adolfo Buylla and color art by Euan Peters.

Set in the shared Marvel Universe, it's a Sequel Series to the similarly titled The Knights of Pendragon, which was also written by Abnett and Tomlinson. However, whereas the first series was a supernatural saga tinged with horror, the sequel retools the characters and premise into a more traditional superhero team, albeit an environmentally focused one.

The 1992 series was part of a much wider Marvel UK relaunch and linked to several other titles - which also meant that Mys-Tech, the Evil, Inc. corporation which acted as the Big Bad for the line, started to play a prominent role.

Knights of Pendragon (1992) contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Alternate Universe: One storyline takes the Pendragons to an alternate world, the spider-dominated planet of Arakne.
  • Sequel Series: It's a direct sequel to the 1990 The Knights Of Pendragon series, with most of the surviving cast returning.
  • Super-Speed: Breeze moves superhumanly fast once she's empowered as a Pendragon - an ability that none of her teammates seem to share.
