Set in the shared Marvel Universe, the series stars a new incarnation of the titular Ghost Rider. Johnny Blaze, the original Ghost Rider, is no longer cursed to become the demonic rider. His mysterious benefactor, Adam, has separated the rider from Johnny - and has bestowed it upon a new host, Alejandra Jones.
Now Alejandra is the latest version of the demonic hero. But is it really going to be that simple? Probably not.
Ghost Rider (2011) contains the following tropes:
- And Show It to You: In the final issue, the Ghost Rider rips out Mephisto's heart.
- Back for the Dead: Returning Ghost Rider villains Blackout and Deathwatch confront the new Rider in the first issue. After a brief Curb-Stomp Battle, she seems to decapitate both of them.
- Biblical Bad Guy: Alejandra's adoptive father Adam, the man who drew the Ghost Rider curse out of Johnny Blaze, seems to be the original biblical Adam. He's also insane and wants to remove sin from the human race, even if that leaves humanity as broken creatures with no creativity or free will.
- Boom, Headshot!: In the final issue, Johnny Blaze ends the Ghost Rider's battle with Mephisto by shooting her through the head.
- Came Back Wrong: Adam brings cyborg villain Steel Vengeance back from the grave, but not actually back from the dead. She's now a rotting, seemingly mindless corpse - but integrated with her fully-functional cyborg half.
- Legacy Character: Alejandra becomes the new Ghost Rider in the first issue, replacing Johnny Blaze.
- Sinister Scythe: This Ghost Rider fights with a scythe, among other weapons.
