Batman/Tarzan: Claws of the Cat-Woman is a 1999 crossover between both Batman and Tarzan, published by Dark Horse Comics (who owned the comic rights to the latter at the time), written by Ron Marz. Taking place in the 1930's, it features the two heroes travelling to the jungles of Africa to return stolen artifacts and thwart the thieving mercenary Finnegan Dent.

This comic contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Backstory Change:
    • Catwoman is usually identified as a costumed thief who grew up on the streets, while here the her counterpart Khefretari is a princess from a lost city.
    • Two-Face in the comics was a crusading district attorney who became a duality obsessed villain after he was disfigured by a mob boss, while his counterpart here is an greedy explorer.
  • Adaptational Heroism: While Catwoman is usually morally ambiguous, here she's a wholly benevolent princess only stealing to repatriate what was stolen from her kingdom.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Two-Face is even worse than usual, being a greedy, imperialist plunderer even before gaining the scars on his face with none of the usual Tragic Villain aspects Dent has.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Two-Face is named Finnegan Dent rather then Harvey, while Catwoman is Khefretari.
  • The Cameo: Jane Clayton and Muviro of the Waziri briefly appear in the second issue.
  • Continuity Nod: Tarzan references Opar, Xuja, Athne, and Cathne as other examples of lost civilizations he's encountered.
  • Expy: Between being a hidden kingdom in Africa that worships the Egyptian pantheon and is home to a benevolent Cat-themed character, Mamnon is very much like Wakanda.
  • Grave Robbing: How Finnegan Dent gained the treasures he brought back from Africa.
  • Hidden Elf Village: The lost city of Mnemnom.
  • In Name Only: The Catwoman character Khefretari is essentially this as the only elements she shares with Selina Kyle are a similar costume and a romantic attraction to Batman.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Dent is sealed away to die in the royal tombs with the very treasures he tried to steal.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Batman and Catwoman initially clash before he learns of her reasons.
  • Lying to Protect Your Feelings: Tarzan tells Batman that Dent was crushed by the rubble that knocked him unconscious.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Tarzan leaves Dent to his richly deserved fate.
  • Panthera Awesome: Jad-Bal-Ja the golden lion shows up as an ally and accompanies the three.
  • Race Lift: Catwoman counterpart is an African princess here.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Batman as usual believes in this, but Tarzan doesn't, and its reflected in their actions.
  • Two-Faced: Dent as usual after Jad-Bal-Ja claws up half his face, resulting in his decision to take over Mnemnom.
