The cast of White Sky. Beware of the spoilers. Due to the game's exceptionally short length and lack of shocking revelations, it's difficult to say what qualifies as a spoiler and what does not. If you really don't want to dip your toe in dangerous waters, play the game first - it should take a little over an hour at most.

Main Cast

    Blanca
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/youre.PNG
The player character, who only has a couple of dialogue choices at a time and is completely lacking in expression. She's shown to be very unhappy with her bland, dull life despite having gotten good grades for most of it. She shows curiosity - and one day, that is enough for her to venture into the pink house at a high potential risk.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: Blanca only has a father, and a mother is never even brought up. In fact, it's difficult to tell if this is normal or not in-universe, as she and Toby are the only character's whose families we really get to see.
  • Canon Name: Blanca is the default name of the character, and it is thematically aproppriate.
  • Driven to Suicide: Blanca can commit suicide if you push her too far to continue heading to class. Or you can do it more directly. After the pink house gets moved, simple walk towards the black area to the right of school. You'll get text that says "It's over."
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You can choose Blanca's name, being that this is a not-voice-acted RPG game.
  • Kick the Dog: Many of Blanca's dialogue options towards Toby are either this or the opposite.
  • Meaningful Name: "Blanca" is just "white". In Spanish, the female form for white, no less.
  • Slasher Smile: She has one of these during the bad ending... Head to the bathroom and look at Blanca's face after putting on the glasses. Oh my. "What lovely black eyes!".
    Toby

Kind of cute when he's not going Ax-Crazy...
The deuteragonist and good friend of Blanca. He’s a young kid who doesn’t want to conform to the societal norm of being in monochrome, and he has a really powerful imagination…

The endings are centered around him.

  • All of the Other Reindeer: He and his mom are in total disagreement with being totally bland and unoriginal; with Toby being ostracized and picked on for that and his mom actually loses her job due to this.
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: He and Blanca are this, with not one single mention about their other parent. Toby only lives with his mom.
  • Ax-Crazy: Later down the line. He even stabs his mom as a retaliation and attempts to murder the protagonist as well.
  • Break the Cutie: The world isn’t kind to Toby; which is why you find him locked in a house with a straightjacket, enough said.
  • Cheerful Child: Before reality and his mom slap him in the face full force; Toby is a very sweet, cheerful kid who is quick to become friends with Blanca.
  • Despair Event Horizon: When he has a talk with his mom, and his mom, who generally was very supportive of him, finally breaks down and slaps him across the face. Twice. This causes Toby to crash and finally become what people expect of him...At least on the surface...On the inside, he has abandoned all hope of living life outside his little bubble and has gone completely insane inside of his delusions in order to be 'free', going so far as to attempt to 'kill' Blanca. You can pacify him, but either way it's not going to change his fate.
  • Empty Eyes: Toby after he starts to “conform”.
  • Mr. Imagination: His major defining characteristic that drives the plot of the game. He escapes from reality constantly to cope with the reality of bullying and being loathed by society as a result of not wanting to conform.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Says the exact phrase: "Oh, God...What have I done?" if you choose not to kill him, as he sees the red sky stretch out all around his mindscape…
  • Put the "Laughter" in "Slaughter": During the last segment of the game, although briefly. Toby goes from room to room after having killed his mom, trying to get rid of you with a knife in hand. He seems to be enjoying this considerably at first.
  • Sanity Slippage: He gets worse and worse throughout the game. It starts with his fear of being beaten and hurt by his classmates and of troubling his poor mother. Toby tries to escape reality through daydreaming with less than desirable results. After he returns more frightened than ever, his mom is forced to try and set him on the "right" path so the two of them can live a normal life. Let's just say Toby doesn't take well to this at all.

Supporting Cast

    Stella
Stella is a student at Blanca's class, and "friend" with Amy and Blanca. She's basically the prime example of what a student of this world is expected to be in "personality" - and is clearly satisfied with her lot in life.
  • Jerkass: Stella tells Amy that if she was her dad, she would have given up on her too. She's mean, and derisive, and clearly only hangs out with Blanca because she got good grades for a long time. She's constantly spitting out the ideologies of the world they're in, with no care for anything else.
    Amy
Amy's the class screw-up who's more friendly than the rest of the kids. She's "friends" with Blanca and another classmate called Stella.
  • Abusive Parents: Implied; as Amy gets bad grades. Her first appearance has her show up with an injury on her cheek. She claims that she fell.
  • Driven to Suicide: Amy apparently got fed up with everything, whatever that means. Her suicide is actually confirmed in the "Bittersweet Ending", as Blanca escapes from the agents of Town Hall during the credits.
    Blanca's Dad
Just your average father who encourages his daughter to be the best at school and not cause trouble. It almost seems like he doesn't care about her, but he actually does show some affection for Blanca before he gets taken away...
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Perhaps debatable, but he was the one who watered the seed of curiosity in Blanca by constantly reminding her not to enter the pink house.
    Toby's Mom
Toby's mom is a hardworking woman who gets a ton of complaints on the daily about her son; and she has a clear distaste for the world's blandness, becoming gloomy and stressed once she returns from work.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: The more the mom begins having to adjust herself to society's standards due to it threatening her livelihood, the more her hair changes into the squared, perfect haircut everyone else has until it finally becomes a perfect cube on top of her head by the time she has an argument with Toby about having lost her job.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Well, it's not entirely her fault - but she was the detonator for Toby's Despair Event Horizon...
