* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: According to WordOfGod, his father served in the military and was very strict, as opposed to the more fun-loving NASCAR driver. His father was the original owner of the dog tags that Tyler is occasionally seen with.

* BeingGoodSucks: He admits he fantasizes about having a carefree life where he just noodles on his guitar and buys extravagant things like a boat or a vacation house, but he has a wife and kid to support and their well-being is more important to him.
* {{Blackmail}}: His position means he could kick everyone out of Perfection at his discretion. He's quick to remind Burt and Tyler of this when the government needs someone to deal with a monster-type problem, though he's also willing to make more friendly deals (e.g. granting Tyler permission for moonlit tours).

* HappilyMarried: Not much is known about his personal life, but he's willing to work a job that he hates in order to support his wife.

* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Larry very easily gets distracted by how cool the various monsters look and gushes about it.
* BasementDweller: He was living in his parents' basement before moving to Perfection.
* BornLucky: Despite the danger the others had experienced, Larry inexplicably walks through the {{Planimal}}'s field without suffering a single injury.
-->'''Tyler:''' You are, without a doubt, the luckiest man I ever met.
* BunnyEarsLawyer:
** Despite his goofy demeanor, he makes a number of useful suggestions for Jodi and Nancy's businesses, due to his own years of working in retail. A lot of merchandise sells out pretty quickly on the basis of one suggestion.
** He also proves surprisingly adept and clever when helping fight the monsters plaguing Perfection (at least when he can focus on the issue at hand).
* ProudToBeAGeek: Runs his own sci-fi website, has a lot of memorabilia and videos, and often talks of his convention experiences.

* HypercompetentSidekick: It's noted more than once that by Rosalita and others that he is far more competent and adept on the ranch than she is, but he is quite content to simply work for her.

* DueToTheDead: Due to the TragicMonster status, it is the only monster in the franchise to receive this treatment. It is given a proper burial in Nancy's backyard, with "Best Pal Ever" written on the grave by Cletus.

* LEGOGenetics: Per Cletus, 4-12 is a mixture of a rhino, a switchback spider, and a wolverine.
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: El Blanco spits him out because, according to Cletus, his skin secretes a substance that's like skunk innards, panther urine, and a few other unsavory things.
