Tarantulas' only "G1" appearance is in the IDW Wreckers comics, which is already covered on that character page. Also the picture used was odd because he didn't look like that in any IDW comic.

!!Tarantulas
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tangled_web_tarantulas_furious.jpg]]
!!!'''Function:''' Scientist
!!!'''Alt Mode:''' Spider
->''"The secrets of the universe are coded in every Cybertronian's spark... and I won't stop cutting until I find them!"''

Introduced in ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'', the IDW comic imports him to G1. The scientist once known as '''Mesothulas''' worked alongside Prowl in the early years of the war. After numerous early accomplishments that assisted the Autobots in the war effort, Mesothulas came to believe the war itself was a living organism that could be manipulated with the proper tools. When the Autobots deemed him unstable, Mesothulas fled to Earth. Developing a fascination with spiders, Mesothulas altered his body into an arachnoid configuration. Now calling himself '''Tarantulas''', he eventually resurfaced, seeking revenge.

* AscendedFanon: His name comes from, of all things, a purposeful misinterpretation of a voice changer and a radio headset produced by Nasta, which featured the likeness of the unreleased Micross casette figure with the generic "Decepticon Enemy" descriptor. Website/TFWikiDotNet, known for its sense of humor, decided to interpret the descriptor as if it was an actual Decepticon ''named'' Enemy, and treated him as such.
