Main Players

    Jaeho/Althea

Jaeho/Althea

The main character and future flowershop owner
  • Berserk Button: Hurting nature, insulting flowers, or negatively affecting his flower shop in any way is a good way to get Althea against you.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Subjects some of his enemies to this. Especially after gaining a special demonic power that explodes people with the damage varying based on how may debuffs he's stacked on the person. Made more embarrassing by the fact that he often fights with his bare hands to do this and otherwise uses no in game skills to defeat high level players. He even treats some enemies like test subjects for his strange fighting style. Rather than as opponents on his level.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Althea Eventually gains Demonic powers with some help from the Spirit of Demonic Plants All of which manifest as shadow or demonic flames. Despite this, Althea is, typically, using these powers for good purposes.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Not explicitly but Jaeho finds out that one of his more obsessive admirers is a noblemen NPC and the CEO of the company that runs "New World" also has an obsession with him in either case. It's unclear if it's Jaeho himself they like or his accomplishments in the game. But they give off heavy Stalker with a Crush vibes.
  • Face of a Thug: When people see Jaeho for the first time, at best they think he's plotting something. At worst they assume he's a monster.
  • Green Thumb: Given this is a web comic about a fantasy game. Jaeho eventually unlocks plant magic by observing flowers and helping them grow. Also gaining the special class, Grower of Life He mainly can speed a plant's grows but can also examine flowers at a glance and use his powers to craft rare and even legendary items from the flowers he grows.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: Jaeho gets a literal example in Whiney and Naggy, The Spirit of Demonic Plants and the Spirit of Life respectively who he makes contracts with over the course of the series. further emphases on this once The Spirit of Life gains her own physical form and the two can be seen floating around Jaeho's shoulders most of the time.
  • Light Is Good: When taping into the power of the Spirit of Life. His fists radiate with light and deal extra holy damage.
  • Masochist's Meal: Makes one for a bunch of nobles that insult him at a banquet he was invited to. Though his cooking is normally great due to his special title Grower of Life he purposefully uses ingredients from demonic plants that are about as appetizing as that sounds. The result actually curses the nobles in question and he uses the fear and hallucination effect from the meal to make them into advertising zombies for the night.
  • Nominal Hero: Jaeho often avoids getting wrapped up into any unnecessary quests and sometimes will try to ignore people in need if he thinks a quest won't help him in his goal of running a successful flower shop. He'll even go as far as to manipulate the NPCs he does end up helping to further his flower shop goals if necessary. Justified in that this is a game and his only goal is to live the life he wants to.
  • Unwanted Harem: Subverted. Jaeho finds himself at the center of many eccentric players and NPCs who help him out for one reason or another. Almost all of which have no real romantic attraction to the man himself. Even most of the woman and some of the men he gets close to fall under a few typical Harem anime tropes but, again, don't seem to be fighting for his affection.

    Wansik/Mr. Swole

Wansik

Jaeho's real life friend and workout buddy who introduces him to the game.
  • Butt-Monkey: He gets blocked in game by Althea for the first part of the comic and when he finally reaches Althea in game. He is immediately beat up by a bunch of elves for insulting Jaeho. Afterwards, he often is the one Jaeho picks as bait or other kinds of dangerous or embarrassing tasks.
  • Turn to Religion: Played with, when he realizes he can't keep up with Jaeho as a fighter. He sees a church in real life and realizes his character needs to make this change. by becoming a healer
  • Vitriolic Best Buds Is this with Jaeho with both of them often casually insulting the other on the regular which gets Wansik in trouble with the elves on occasion. Jaeho even uses Wansik for experiments on how to make Elves more friendly with human players but despite all that. The two are close enough that they work out together all the time and hang out in real life.

    May

May

A girl who also starts in luxury forest with Jaeho. She really likes elves.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: The elves treated her like this when she first came to the Luxury Forest since they aren't that fond of humans anyway. They trust her more now that she works as Althea's Assistant but still not as much as the man himself.
  • Green Thumb: As Althea's Assistant, she gains powers similar to his and though they aren't as potent. She is still able to make plants grow faster and take care of many of the magical plants they come across without Althea's help.
  • The Not-Love Interest: A girl now magically bound to a powerful protagonist The Grower of Life to be his assistant and closest confidant. Sounds like the start of a fantasy romance anime. But neither May or Jaeho seem to have any interest in a relationship with each other and are strictly friends in and out of the game.
  • Teleportation: She is capable of being teleported to Althea's position in game if he summons her.
  • Yaoi Fangirl: Shows shades of this when Red and Althea end up having a personal conversation. She watches them from afar and remains interested when it seems like the former is going to confess to the latter but when Red apologizes instead. She immediately leaves as she's no longer interested.
    Samantha

Samantha

A high level desert dwelling player looking to gain a unique class from a hidden quest.
  • Action Girl: A high level player who can command an army of sand golems as well as fight with a sword. Complete with leopard print and survival gear. She later changes her class to that of a more feminine and elegant Spirit Knight in order to better help Althea and his flower shop but is still more then capable in battle.
  • Defrosting the Ice Queen: Zigzagged, though she starts out entirely focused on getting a unique class from Althea After he killed the litch king that was supposed to give it to her. She slowly begins to open up more as she helps Althea in his goal without the two being in a relationship. It's her own feelings for Jaeho that help her change even if he doesn't quite feel the same as of yet.
  • Mage Knight: She uses a class that sports magic options as well as traditional fighter options.
  • Personality Powers: She gets new fire powers, just after her passion for the game is rekindled.
  • Playing with Fire: She eventually learns to use flame attacks with her sword. After she learns how to harness the power of flame spirits from the elves.

Important NPCs

    Spirit of Life

Spirit of Life

The Spirit that is meant to guide the Grower of Life
  • Fairy Companion: An interesting type. She enters into Jaeho and guides him by giving him notifications that are like messages in his head. Once she gains a physical form she remains fairly fairy like and still offers guidance. Making her a more straight forward example of this trope.
  • Nature Spirit: A fairly literal example of this trope.
  • The Voiceless: Can only speak to Althea through game notifications up until he makes her a physical form.
    Spirit of Demonic Plants

Spirit of Demonic Plants

The Spirit of Demonic Plants who helps Jaeho and is not a Demon.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: His Spirit powers are actually vary useful as they can be effective against most any creature in New World when used by Jaeho's Spirit attacks. Jaeho also has him going out and doing tasks that he sometimes isn't equipped for. Like taming a rampaging demonic golem. Despite this, Jaeho will still sometimes treat him like a freeloader or pest.
  • Odd Job Gods: More, an Odd Job Spirit. While the Spirit of Life seems to have knowledge and power over all regular plants. He seems to have power over only the Demonic ones. Which only exist in the mortal realm because of Demonic interference. Still, he is a Spirit that is Powerful enough to take physical form and to be channeled by Jaeho in attacks.
    Tinlite

Tinlite

The previous Grower of Life and the human who created the Luxury Forest and protected the wondering Elves
  • Green Thumb: Caused an entire forest to spring up in the middle of a desert.
  • The Ghost: An NPC that died long ago in New World's history. But he is still remembered by both the Elves and the Spirit of life and some demons. He is also responsible for the existence of Luxury Forest in the first place and made a lot of interesting choices that have had an effect on Jaeho's adventures in the comic.
     King Malkant

King Malkant

An NPC King who rules over the country of Kruma. A common starting place for players.
  • Blood Knight: His kingdom is peaceful only because he knows that lots of weak players come there. He makes it possible for those same players to level up and become stronger. His main motivation being that some day, a player will be strong enough to be a challenge for him.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: He has an efficient system set up to protect the people of his kingdom, especially the players as he recognizes that many of the players that show up to his kingdom are weak but have the potential to grow stronger. If things get bad, he's quick to jump into the fray himself and even protects Jaeho from a group of protesters.
