- Hot-Blooded: Tends to let his rage or emotions gets the best of him.
Malao
- The Baby of the Bunch: Is the youngest of his brothers, and plenty mischievous.
- Children Are Innocent: While he's not above fighting, he does have a caring nature as he took care of a monkey who got hurt and when making a fire, he decides to use a dead tree branch than cut a fresh one off of a tree claiming it would be a waste if he did.
- Loyal Animal Companion: The boss monkey who he saves, and later on, it helps Malao when he's in danger.
- The Prankster: Loves pulling pranks on his brothers, and others, especially Fu.
Seh
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Not as extreme as this trope gets, but he does get jealous when he notices Charles putting a hand on Hok's shoulder.
- Handicapped Badass: Becomes blind in the middle of the series, but it helps him hone his other senses and makes him more of an exceptional fighter.
- Loyal Animal Companion: He keeps a small beautiful snake hidden up his sleeve, and it enjoys his company.
- Secret-Keeper: Finds out by overhearing a conversation grandmaster had that Hok was a girl. He kept her secret.
- Stealth Expert: His specialty, as he learned to be able to slow his heart down and hide his chi.
- Strong Family Resemblance: He finds out that he looks a lot like his mother, An Gangseh. However, it doesn't seem like he recognizes Tonglong as his brother.
Hok
- Big Brother Instinct: Cares for her temple brothers, especially Malao.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: When she's given new clothes to wear, she's described as this.
- Ship Tease: With Seh, and towards the end of the series, Charles.
- Sweet Polly Oliver: Hok is revealed to be a girl, but it's not hard for her to disguise herself so long as she wore her robes and constantly shaved her head. The few people who knew were Ying, Seh and the grandmaster.
