The leader of Wang Hu Shong.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Da Shan's manga counterpart is meaner and jerkier than his anime incarnation. By miles. He even slaps Chi-Yun after his loss to Masamune, claiming that he has no care for those who are weak. He does get over this, though.
- Hot-Blooded Sideburns: They're golden!
- Kirin: Zurafa has a face bolt which depicts a qilin. Keeping with the strong correlation between the kirin and the giraffe, its corresponding constellation is the "Camelopardalis" a.k.a. the giraffe. Additionally, Zurafa is Arabic for giraffe.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: He's Beylin Temple's top blader and the leader of Wang Hu Zong, and while he can be quite harsh on his students and teammates, he always means well, has his friends' best interests at heart, and is quick to praise a job well done.
- The Unexpected: He wasn't weak, especially not against Gingka, but no one was expecting him to defeat JULIAN of all people.

- Curb-Stomp Battle: Gave one to Tsubasa before the latter unleashed his dark power. One on the receiving end from Klaus.
- Kaiju: His bey manifests as a lizard, but it looks more like this.
- The Stoic: He usually sports a calm demeanor.
- Tempting Fate: He wanted Tsubasa to show him his full power like in Kyoya's match. He got what he wanted and nearly lost for it.
- Third-Person Person: Often talks in this manner, especially when he gets serious.

- Brilliant, but Lazy: Is a rather talented blader, but would rather flirt than battle.
