- Contrasting Sequel Main Character: He is different from Anton Rayne in many ways:
- Rayne, even if he has a privileged background, is a Self-Made Man who worked his way up to the Presidency starting from the bottom, while Toras of course was born as the heir to the throne.
- Rayne began the game in a committed marriage, while Toras is a widower, with whether he finds a second love being up to the player. Though depending on player's choices Toras might have not been in love with his wife in the first place or he might have had affairs during his first marriage.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: No matter how you play, His Majesty King Romus will be in the center of events, leading armies, starting investigations, negotating trade deals and speaking to his people.
The late first wife of Romus Toras, who tragically passed away in a boating accident.
- The Lost Lenore: If the marriage was happy, she can play this role for King Romus. Even if you play King Romus as having been in a loveless marriage with Lena, you can still make it clear that he is distraught by her loss.
Daughter of Romus and Lena Toras, and the heir apparent. She holds progressive views about the future of the Rizian monarchy.
Brother of the late King Valero Toras, and Romus Toras' uncle. Currently sits on the Royal Council as Grand Vizer.
Son of Hugo Toras and cousin of Romus Toras. He is currently the Duke of the city-state of Iza, and holds close ties to Rizia's nationalist movements.
- Prince Charmless: Rico is crass, boorish, brutal and sexist.

The mother of Romus Toras and widow of the late King Valero Toras. Originally a commoner who's marriage to Valero caused a scandal.

Rizia's long-running advisor for economic affairs.
- Grow Old with Me: Averted. It is stated that Elena and her late husband had a very rocky relationship before he passed away.
- Old Retainer: She has been working for the Rizian monarchy since the reign of Queen Lyza over 32 years ago. Suffice to say, she is dedicated to the well-being of the House Toras.
- When I Was Your Age...: If Romus and his councillors decide to play a drinking game during a wine festival, she says that people simply drank if they wanted to get drunk back in her time. Subverted, since she goes along with the drinking game anyhow.
Rizia's long-running advisor for foreign affairs.
- The Good Chancellor: If you are trying to run a peaceful game, his advice is always sound, if a bit optimistic.
The current head of House Azaro, and Rizia's Councilor for War and Internal Security.*
- Politically-Active Princess: Her job, as Rizia's War and Internal Security Councillor.
- The Vamp: She is remarked to be rather attractive, can have sex with Romus, and if Romus marries her&doesn't make their son his heir she overthrows and executes him without shedding a single tear.
- Warrior Princess: Her other job, having enlisted in the military at the age of 16.

- Childhood Friend Romance: Pabel has a massive crush on Romus, whom he's known since his childhood. Can be Played With, if Romus reciprocates the feelings. Averted if Romus did not choose to be friends with him in the prologue.
- Closet Gay: Pabel is gay, but hides his orientation from everyone due to the homophobic laws of Rizia.
